And by the way, that's what these dudes Paul Gosar is calling "heroes" were doing. Standing by the doors of a church, heckling nearby protesters. The protesters were chanting "Not the church, not the state, the people will decide their fate!" And these dudes were shouting "You're having my baby!" at various women.
Not only are they not defending anything, but nobody's attacking anything either.
These people think they're being attacked when somebody expresses a different opinion.

I saw the video. And I highly doubt the dude in the hat is a currently-serving Fireman, the more I see of this situation, the more I think that's not the case. If I'm wrong, we'll know because he'll get suspended and somebody will hear about it.
If you work for a government agency, in any profession of arms (civil or military) or even for many large corporations...they have regulations about this kind of stuff; codes of conduct and social media policies and the like. But more than that, there's three cardinal rules. #1 Don't make a public jackass of yourself. #2 Don't make your superiors look bad, and #3 Don't throw shit uphill.
Also, minor point: Bibles and rosaries aside, if that's what a dude thinks I feel pretty confident in saying he doesn't really believe in the Lord. Both the Bible and the Catholic Church have some pretty strong things to say about both adultery and fornication.

That is what a hell of a lot of the Republican base openly says that it wants. Civil war, right-wing insurgency, turning the "Culture War" kinetic. Because they think they'll win, because they think they're the only ones who have guns or something something Gazpacho. They're wrong, but by the time they find that out it'll be too late to rethink things.
And just like the Ukrainian Army is with the Russians...the US Army, Air and Army National Guards, the Marines, etc. will kick their ass. Just as the Ukrainians have made the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 UCAV an icon of war, so too will Reaper drones and Apache and Venoms and Zulu Cobra gunships be for us.
But also, human waves of ill-educated, poorly trained conscripts coming up against a modern, well-trained army and getting mowed down can go more than one way in terms of the messaging war. It's scored points for the Ukrainians. It might not for us. The thing about this "Culture war" shit is a lot of people made up their minds a long time ago, and somebody like Putin would love to be able to take that to an international, global scale. He wants to bring back the Bipolar world of the Cold War, and this just might do it, if it comes to pass.
Messaging and political victories are as much of a part of the war effort as direct combat in the Battlespace. And the Right is good at that shit.
That's how they'll break off a piece of America. Lose the war, hard, but score significant concessions because of political messaging. Global public opinion in some parts of the world has a strong "Fuck you, America" element to it, and they'll play that, hard. Chinese and Russian international backing will almost certainly play a role, too.
While both we and the Ukrainians understand that the political messaging war, the "Meme war" as I've called it" is important and have used it to great effect in this case, the Right has just as ironclad of a hold over their core audience as the Russians do and mostly for the same reasons.
The difference is that Russians watch State TV because they have to. Americans and other Western Conservatives mainly have to self-censor their information. And don't think they won't do it when American right-wing insurgents and irregular forces are using the Confederate flag and other assorted anti-American symbols in the same way that the Russians are using the Hammer And Sickle.
It's the same reason the Russian Army has engaged in atrocities, mass murder and cruelty. Why? Because they know it'll flip a switch in the brains of their target audience. This shit is societal heroin and Russians have gotten to the point where just huffing the shit isn't getting them the same high anymore.
If you don't think Republicans won't go the same way you haven't been paying attention.
And images like this one will matter, and will be a thing there's a fight over too. Dr. Jill Biden and Olena Zelenska swapping Mother's Day flowers is an image that's got to be a balm to the soul of the average Ukrainian or to defenders of small-L, small-D liberal democracy everywhere.
The Right's been trying to frame Dr. Jill Biden as an arrogant PHD for years, and it hasn't worked.
Likewise, the Right has not reckoned on how their strategy of quietly stockpiling judges and lawyers and political power would meet resistance or be seen by a public that's actually paying attention...and had they picked a less-polarizing leader than Trump and/or nominated Justices that were less-damaged people it likely could have worked. But no, they picked people whose brains were going to spit out a result of "Divide By Zero" no matter what the fuck happened.
And now a whole bunch of "Conservatives" and even a fair number of the Never-Trump crowd are all upset because yet again, Action = Consequence.
And they sense that they, too, are at a disadvantage in the messaging war and faced with a qualitative disadvantage as well.
And...as with that kid in Kentucky a few years ago who got his ass handed to him in the count of public opinion for acting like a smarmy twat and getting in the face of a Native American veteran...when this asshole finds himself on the wrong side of public opinion and gets drummed out of the NYFD (assuming he's a legit firefighter, which I doubt, because reasons) he'll get made some Party Official somewhere because he "Owned The Libs" or some shit.
And this is WHY Republicans (and conservatives in general) have been losing ground in public opinion since the Invasion of Ukraine started. It's not about Conservatism, or God, or making the world or even your own country better. These fucking idiots just want to pleasure themselves at everybody else's expense and imagine themselves having a crowd cheering for their every debased act.
And eventually, people get tired of that kind of crap. That's why Labour and the Tories just lost like 500 seats in UK local elections.
When Republicans lose politically, they'll just resort to violence, insurgency if they can't get enough people for a civil war. It won't go very well, but people will still die, and war is always a tragedy.
But let me tell you something. I just checked back on my Twitter for a minute and I see that Ensign Urine Sample (Jack Posobiec) said some dumb shit about Pizza hut in America (showing a closed Pizza hut) vs. Pizza Hut in China (showing the inside of an obviously nice new building) and pretty much all of Twitter is either making fun of him or thinking "Hmmm, Pizza."
And that's kind of the problem here, when there's some kind of a conflict, it helps if both sides are competent and obey the rules of conflict. We're seeing what happens when that's not the case every day now in Ukraine.
It's not going to go how they think it's going to go. It never does.
But where we see mass murder and senseless slaughter and tragedy, the Right sees glory and a chance to impose their demented, deviant "morality" on whatever ground they can take if they throw enough bodies at it. These people who think themselves "Righteous" want to take away your freedom, take your money and fuck your underage daughter.
And if you resist, they'll call it "Communism."
Even as they cheer for real Communists, and for Putin reinstating the Soviet Union and re-Sovietizing Russia. They'd bring back the Killing Fields of Khmer Rouge Cambodia and name their Organization Of State Killing the "Ministry Of Life."
"Abortion" was just the excuse. It was never about Life. It was always about power and totalitarianism.
The cruelty, as always, is the point. Remember that part.
Because it's going to come to a fight, eventually.
