On Kyle Rittenhouse, Conservatism and Insanity.

Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars.

~Guns N' Roses, Civil War, from the album Use Your Illusion II.

At his trial today, Kyle Rittenhouse made a big show of fake-crying, like a baby back bitch.

You know, the look to the side to see if the jury was buying it was really what sold it for me.

Like you do when you were really in fear of your life at the time...

This motherfucker knows what he did was wrong, he just hopes he'll get away with it. He's the sort of punk who goes out and starts shit and then pulls out a gun and claims self defense, even though he started it.

There was no fear involved.

(Having been in such a position, and having been stalked by my ex-wife and members of her whack job Pentecostal church, I may know more about the issues of fear and self-defense than he does.)

Well, maybe there was the fear of getting caught.

We're up against some shit here, and I'm not talking about the massively unprofessional judge and lawyers in the Rittenhouse case, most of whom it seems should never have been allowed near a courtroom. (And that means, if he does go to prison there'll be a constant stream of appeals for basically ever.)

No, I'm not talking about that.

Or rather, I'm not just talking about that.

We're up against the fact that if Kyle Rittenhouse is convicted and goes to prison (and he'll almost certainly get the minimum sentence the Trump-Supporting judge can legally give him if so) the far-right will make him a millionaire one way or the other by the time he's out.

We're up against the fact that he'll probably end up with a Newsmax or OANN gig either way.

If he goes to jail and finds The Lord (and most people do because church or whatever religious observance means more time out of one's cell) dude will be able to make a career and millions of dollars off of just that, and These Fucking People will give it to him.

We're up against the fact that conservatism is massively broken.

These motherfuckers just want to kill and steal, and act like they're righteous while they're doing it. Yes, that's what it really comes down to.

We're up against people who are apparently ready to die of COVID-19 to spite the Democrats and Joe Biden. Now, I'll admit in my younger years I was fairly passionately Republican. But if somebody would've told me this shit I'd have probably went and got my shotgun and told them to get the fuck out.

If they can't have their Killing Fields by fiat of a government that they control...they'll make them themselves and they'll be the ones who die? I'm sorry, but I used to be a Republican and even then I'm pretty sure I would have refused to Kamikaze myself for...*Checks Notes* Donald Trump? I mean seriously, are you fucking kidding me with this shit?

They want to kill people so bad that if it has to be themselves, they're fine with that. They're hoping to drown civilization...society...America...under a massive pile of corpses, even if it has to be their own.

We're up against...this.

And if you need me to tell you what's wrong with this picture from a Christian, traditional conservative perspective, I can't help you very much.

I cannot stress this enough, that back when I was a conservative, which still overlapped with a lot of the formative days of the internet...if some whack-job internet personality on any side was hanging all over me and telling me she wanted me to freeze my sperm in case we needed to raise up an army of "Freedom warriors" I'd have been like hell no 'cause all that's creepy as shit, among other things.

Not to mention, ya know, it goes massively against anything I was ever taught in terms of family values, personal conduct or religious beliefs.

I mean how the fuck does anybody even remotely tie this type of shit with Christianity, conservative values or, ya know, human freedom?

And who the fuck really thinks a Eugenics breeding program with Laura Loomer and Roger Stone as the donors isn't going to end in some kind of massive disaster? Seriously?

I frankly cannot imagine either of these people as parents of one kid, or maybe I just don't want to.

And Republicanism as a philosophy attracts these kinds of people. The party of people like Bill Buckley, Charles Colson, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan has morphed into the party of Donald Trump, Kyle Rittenhouse, Laura Loomer, Roger Stone and The Fucking Dilbert Guy.

I mean, seriously, conservatives, what's wrong with you?

Is this how you want it to end? Is this what you want to be known for?

These people are basically trying to create all the bad parts of science fiction, because something something Gazpacho. It's like the Battletech Universe, but on all the bad drugs.

I'm serious, ask one of these people and they generally can't/won't give you a reason for all this crazy shit.

Or maybe, just maybe, they don't care and they're not even thinking that far ahead.

It seems like a lot of this bullshit is driven by nothing more than the thrill of bad behavior in the moment and the fact that somebody in a position of authority basically gave them permission to act like that.

And in the meantime they simply don't care how immature, puerile and stupid it all is, because they're stupid and they think crap like this is funny.

These are the people you don't want in your D&D group because they never fail to play Chaotic Evil or Chaotic Neutral and play it as "Chaotic Stupid" and they don't care if it ruins things for everybody else. These people, or at least the ones running Conservatism now are our flaming nuts, internet trolls, obnoxious neighbors, religious fanatics and village idiots.

I don't know about you, but as a former conservative myself I have a problem with that.

They're simply bad people, in most cases, and we're going to have to face that fact.

And then we're going to have to do something about it.

That's the hard part here, because nobody wants to set the precedent and take responsibility because someday they might get held to account themselves if they do that.

That's even though at least some of the people hemming and hawing over whether or not to hold these motherfuckers accountable now know that these fucking fools will just keep escalating until the government, the military, and ordinary people will have to shoot back just to survive.

And I'm here to tell you, Republicans aren't any safer from these fanatical idiots than the rest of us are.

Everybody...including a lot of Republicans...just keeps hoping the fever will break, the storm will pass and they can go back to normal. Well, we left normal behind when we as a people allowed a fucking Nazi idiot like Donald Fucking Trump to run for President in the first place.

I saw this shit yesterday, too.

Two thirds of southern Republicans favor seceding from the USA.

Patriots, yo.

They of all people should remember exactly what happened last time because they're the ones who've spent the most time in over a century and a half since lionizing that history. The Lost Cause lost for one hell of a lot of fucking reasons, but a big part of it was that they didn't have the industrial or logistical capability to fight a long war, and they didn't do much to retool or shift production or use people more productively in order to fight it.

The North, meanwhile, could and did move whole armies by railroad.

And here's the thing, people, you're not going to get to keep all that stuff or all those people that are in United States government and military service if you secede, nor will such states continue to get Federal dollars so they'll lose, on average, 40% or more of their budgets, and what about the fact that all these people these motherfuckers don't like are...overwhelmingly in positions that are vital to the functioning of their economies? Seriously, do you really think these fucking people are going to work in bean fields and chicken plants and Wal-Marts without guns to their heads?

There's a hell of a lot of work that conservative white people simply won't do.

And it seems like the whole reason that they want to break off a piece of America for themselves is so that they can kick everybody else out of it.

And they're not thinking about who'll deliver the stuff or pick the produce or wait the tables or wash the dishes, because they just assume it'll be somebody else other than them. Well, bitch, if there ain't nobody else, it's you gotta do the work or the work don't get done.

More to the point, given these people's ideas, can you even imagine a country governed by, or for, these fucking people?

Their whole belief system at this point is to spit in the face of civilization and government. How are these people going to then turn that around and make their own?

More to the point who the hell looks at somebody like Donald Trump, or Kyle Rittenhouse, or Laura Loomer or Roger Stone and is inspired? Who looks at that shit as actual leadership?

No, what these people are hoping for is that someone will let them continue to do whatever they want. But without the rest of us to do the work of life, shit just won't get done. Civilization will break down, etc. etc. Eventually you end up with some sort of Gonzo Redneck Afghanistan with more guns and way more drugs.

Eventually, somebody's going to have to step in and clean that up.

And that's the point, isn't it? Our enemies, especially Russia under Vladimir Putin, are all about the idea of inflicting something very like the fall of the Soviet Union on the United States. I doubt it'll work in quite the same way, but they've certainly got a shot at success on a smaller scale, not due to their own actions, but because of the shitty attitudes of a lot of Americans.

And what are we going to do about that?

Because unlike Kyle Rittenhouse, we have to face the facts that crying about it won't solve anything.

And then we have to get to work and stop this stupid bullshit.
