I saw this yesterday, almost immediately after I came in from checking out the eclipse.
It's a fucking cult.

And goddamn if Republicans haven't started to figure out all that shit ain't exactly popular.

Trump attempted to walk back all his anti-Choice bullshit yesterday, and was immediately lambasted by a lot of Conservatives and pro-life people, including Mike Pence.
Trump doesn't care, he just wants Power again.
Note: Mike Pence has not figured out that Republican dogma is unpopular.
Right or Wrong, Pence said what he said in good faith, because it's what he really believes.
I don't believe in that shit, but I doubt that Mike Pence is going to declare a Jihad against people like me because I don't agree with him.
MAGA on the other hand immediately jumps down Pence's throat because, basically "How dare you contradict our god!" And of course they hate him for not going along with Trump's J6 coup, besides that.
And it's amazing how priggish they are about it, too.
It's like they've discovered a new god, and they like it way better than the old one, or something. I'm not saying the Left Behind Series novels and how LaHaye and Jenkins wrote everybody else falling in line and worshiping the Antichrist was projection, not yet, but it was pretty damn close.
You can believe that Jesus is God, or you can believe that Trump is God. Not both. One of these things is not like the other. No man can serve two masters. Mike Pence, for all his faults, seems to understand that pretty well.
And in the end, it'll come down to "Owning The Libs" or some such bullshit, or otherwise lording their power over Christians who actually do believe in that kind of stuff.

But the fact that we have about a quarter of the population that insists on living like that is one of the reasons why I think America is headed for some kind of a split. Yeah, sure, these fucking people will end up with some small, dirty Southern Banana Republic but they'll act like it's the Second Coming of Imperial Rome because it's theirs, or some bullshit.
Meanwhile the rest of America will move on with an attitude like "Bye, whore" and rebuild and get on with the business of citizenship and life and maintaining all the international stuff our ancestors built that "Conservatives" reject now because it's too hard.
