It's not that he's an authoritarian, or a racist, or some shit-talking dumbass that requires his many glaringly obvious visible flaws to be papered over with legions of transparently false memes.

It's that he thinks in buzzwords and memes and is dumb and thinks in lowest-common denominator terms while being perverse, petty and vengeful just like a lot of these fucking people know deep down that they really are.
(And, for the most part, this is how they want to be.)
But he supposedly has money or something, so that makes it "Okay."
And Trump is as close to an "Elite" as will ever represent these morons, and well do they know it.
So...even though he has all the pretensions (yet little else) of his class and would not allow his mob to have anything to do with him under uncontrolled circumstances, they'll follow him into hell because he talked bad about Mexicans on TV once and made them feel something for like five seconds.
And when I say "Follow him into hell" I mean that from the bottom of my ex-Christian soul.
Trump is the archetypal abusive asshole, literally. Shit, he's got the court cases to prove it. His base, thus, is like that girl you hooked up with once and did something just right and it's years later and she still tries to talk to you now and again.
Except they're (thankfully?) stuck on him, not you.

Each of these two

They talk like he's their Father, their God, and their King all at once.
Because he said racist shit in public once, or something, and they dream of doing such.

Of course, the time will come when these fucking people realize that the places in the world where Christianity is growing and still has drive and energy...not to mention the kind of power they covet...are overwhelmingly Black and Brown countries in the Global South. At that point, they will abandon Christianity.
Trouble is there's a New Religious Movement starting right before all of our eyes that literally legitimizes their hate and doesn't make them have to give a shit about other people, or even pretend to.
And that shit should scare you.
Because wherever that shit gets control of...because it will take root somewhere...will become hell on Earth. My bet is on Russia or somewhere in its developing sphere of influence, unless they can break off a chunk of America...and then we're going to see just how bad it gets.
America is about being a better citizen, not about cult membership or who you hate.
