Kamikaze (Nixonland Has Fallen, Two.)

Get ready.

I think we can expect Republicans to double down infinitely on Trump...and on January 6th...now that Trump has been indicted for his role in the insurrection.

Of course, the same people who've been kissing Vladimir Putin's ass openly since 2016 are also going to rant about "Communists" taking over the US government and going after Trump.

Never mind that Communism hasn't been a thing since I was in High School.

Of course, in the massively-dumbed-down "Conservative" Id, words mean nothing. "Communism" is merely an ideological shorthand for anything they don't "like."

This is why they have no problem with prostrating themselves before the Hammer and Sickle, or doing all type of shady shit and claiming it's done in the name of Christ and Christianity.

Hell, it's not Communism, Fascism, Radical Statist Authoritarianism or the Mark Of The fucking Beast when they do it.

We're arguing with shitty teenagers who think they're entitled to pleasure themselves at our expense, run society and then take all the benefits without ever having to pay in their own damn selves, let alone do anything for anybody else.

We're dealing with a cult of ideological, mental and moral 13-year-olds and incompetents who've finally found a ruler they "like."

Because they figure he's just like them, and they can use him just like they all use each other.

And some of them thought...while beholden to some rich medieval-wannabe Catholic nutcase, that they were going to overthrow the government and then get to have the cops or the military shoot down anybody who objected.

Never mind that, fundamentally, it's the military's refusal to back the scheme that's why it fell through. Also, this bullshit was defeated as much as anything else, by quick-thinking staffers who grabbed up the right boxes of paperwork before they got out of Dodge. It was stymied by a Vice President who knew the limits of his own power. 
Somebody didn't think this all the way through to start with.

And I think that would have mattered.

Had the initial plan half-ass succeeded it would've still failed more catastrophically and violently out here in the rest of America...but it would likely have caused the violent breakup of this country in so doing, because some places would've sided with the shit, they tried to anyway.

Because on a basic level, the modern Reactionary Right views the last 250 years or so as some kind of theological error, even though plenty of elements of Democracy go back way further than that. 

They also greatly dislike and try to ignore the last five or six centuries or so of bloody revolutions and wars that they and their ancestors mostly lost because people got sick of the bullshit.

In a sense, it's not just that Nixonland has fallen...it's that Nixonland, and most of its modern-era Enlightenment-effected conservative or Republican predecessors and its Reaganite and Bush dynasty heirs alike are seen by modern "Conservatives" as a rounding error on histories of empire and monarchy that they think they want to go back to. There's a reason these chucklefucks act like we never had a "Real" President before Trump.

And if you think that they give a damn that the central vehicles for such beliefs in the modern world are Putinist neo-Commie authoritarianism and Salafist Islam...you have another thing coming, because that shit very much is the world these ass-clowns think they want to live in.

Anything other than "We The People..." or "We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident..." and that is not a joke.

I'm tired of this shit. And as I've said many times before I'll be surprised if it doesn't come down to a fight. It's a fight they'll lose because they're stupid, but they want to have it anyway...as much because they think then Republican Jesus will swoop in and save them as for any other reason.

Republicans are stuck in a death spiral, like a gut-shot A6M Zero Kamikaze going down over Leyte Gulf...and like the Japanese Kamikazes of WWII, they want to take the rest of us down with them. They don't want to live in a world they don't get to rule.

And they don't care that their beliefs are antithetical to everything America stands for.

I'm tired of this shit. The question is, why aren't you?

If the current polls are reliable... Nixon will be re-elected by a huge majority of Americans who feel he is not only more honest and more trustworthy than George McGovern, but also more likely to end the war in Vietnam. The polls also indicate that Nixon will get a comfortable majority of the Youth Vote.
