It's just that I've been predicting that Trump would openly, publicly call somebody a slur since this whole thing started.
I'm just surprised that this did not result in frenzied, orgiastic Trump worship...or at least no more than usual from these fucking people.
Earlier today, I also saw and posted about a thread on Twitter that was about a new conspiracy theory video and how that shit goes from Antivax stuff to far-right BS to anti-Civil Rights BS to promoting Falun Gong and reheated 60 year old John Birch Society BS and talking about the "Great Reset."
You know what? It's all bullshit.
The only "Great Reset" out there is that people can work for literally decades, put years of their lives and vast personal effort into making it socially unacceptable to use racial slurs or sexual slurs or whatever...
Unless...we all say "No."
For the record, it doesn't seem to have caught on.
But I'm here to tell you these people, MAGA's and shit, will start, individually, testing the waters to see if they can say that shit themselves.
(And it's gotten bad enough that over the years, I stopped wearing anything that might identify me as a possible Republican when I go anywhere.)
Eventually, you get to the point where Republicans see anybody calling them a racist, or any collective or personal pushback or legal consequences for their bullshit merely as "Politics" or slurs against them, or as some kind of a conspiracy or vendetta if it starts to stick.
Because a lot of these fucking people are like little kids, who will copy their "Authority" figures and do whatever is permitted.
Actual conservative values done got throwed out the window a long damn time ago.
That's your real "Great Reset."
For the record, this tracks globally, too.
Far-right political parties in countries like Georgia and Poland have tried their damnedest every so often to slip some piece of Russian (very often specifically Soviet) legislation by the public in their countries, but to a great extent it hasn't worked very well over there.
Because you always get a whole bunch of people that take to the streets over it, you know, if you want a better country maybe you have to be a better citizen.
And in case you don't believe me, I could point out how many Russians are just fine with the atrocities their government and military have perpetrated in Ukraine.
But instead I'll simply point to the debased, sociopathic, selfish behavior of about a third of the American public during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I wrote about it at the time.
I mean, shit...these fucking people are still bitching about it!
And at the time, a lot of these fucking people were transparently hoping to use COVID-19 as a biological weapon against all the people they didn't like.
It got so bad that it wrecked apocalyptic fiction in general for me.
No Zombie Apocalypse movie will ever be believable again unless it has people running up to the Zombies while yelling "You can't tell me what to do!" back at the rest of us and then getting eaten or infected.
No "Outbreak" style medical thriller will ever feel right to me again, without a vocal faction of idiots who think the disease isn't going to hurt them, and they don't care if it hurts somebody else.
No Red Storm Rising or The Bear And The Dragon style military thriller, no tale of of resistance to Communist aggression on or off the field of battle, will ever feel the same without it including some wealthy, well-fed far-right idiots blaming the whole thing on the West's acceptance of LGBT people.
Like, literally the entire point of what's left of the "Conservative" movement anymore is that they just don't like other people.
That's all there even is.
The only thing one has to do to be a "Thought Leader" or indeed any other kind of leader, is tell these fucking people who they can hate.
And I can't help but think that if it was them being attacked, they wouldn't be either fighting back as effectively nor otherwise handling it anywhere near as well as the Ukrainians have. I'm almost afraid to ask what kind of atrocities these sons of bitches would accept against themselves or their fellow citizens, or what they will when it's our turn...because these people, by existing, basically make certain that one day it will be us the Russians are looking at through gunsights.
Because sooner or later the Russians are going to get the idea that, if they come at us, they'll only have to fight 75% of the people, because there's 25% that'll preemptively surrender (if not join the neo-Soviets outright.)
Because they look at a country that'd elect people like Donald Trump or Kevin McCarthy to positions of power, or even keep people like Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene or Matt Gaetz in lower positions...and they think if they give us a good hard kick, the whole mess will come tumbling down.
Think about that for a second.
Hatred of LGBT people is just an excuse.
If it wasn't that, they'd just find another one. And the reason we have this problem is that we had a President for four years who thought it was great to be, with his powerful position, some kind of pathetic bootlicker to dictators and kings.
There's always some people like that, who'd rather be slaves of the Caesars than be free...but Donald Trump made it acceptable, even "Cool" to a lot of people who wouldn't be that way otherwise
Or at least, they would remember that Vladimir Putin is a KGB agent, and remember what they were taught about people like him. I can remember when these people thought the KGB was damned near demonic...and hell, maybe it was, given how easy these same motherfuckers have fallen to it.
And more to the point they'd rather be slaves of the Caesars, laboring under some kind of tyranny, than see you be free.
But here's the thing.
We can say "No." We have the power to hit the button again, and "Reset" it back.
So long as we all do it.
We do not have to tolerate this horseshit.
