Powers And Principalities (Part Two.)

 I just saw this. Some idiot member of the Russian Duma named Vladimir Solovyov says that "Ukraine is just the beginning" and is loudly demanding that after Ukraine is "Demilitarized" Putin should nuke the West in response to sanctions, restore the old Warsaw Pact (and mind you, this does seem to be a Kremlin talking point) take back Alaska, and demand that medals stripped for doping and unethical behavior be restored to Russian athletes.

Son, if you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs. Your soup sandwich of a piece of shit Army can't even defeat Ukraine. How in the actual fuck do you think you fuckers are going to take on NATO? You can't even feed your newly re-branded Red Army without begging China for MRE's that look like something my Mom's dogs wouldn't eat.

And it's not just that this dude is talking so stupid that bugs me, either.

Mind you, one of the things this dude who hates the West so much seems to be all worked up about, is that the Italian government confiscated his two villas in Tuscany. 

Yep, you heard that right. If dude hates the West and loves Russia so much...why did this motherfucker own not one but two Italian villas? 

I swear, these fucking Russians take the hypocrisy of modern Republicans and bump it up to the next level.

But therein lies a thing that's been bothering me.

There's a hell of a lot of American "Conservatives" and White Nationalists (But I repeat myself) that seem to think it would be better if Putin conquered America or something like that, or at least, that we should have the same kind of authoritarian government as Russia.

There's a problem with that, that I'm not sure assholes like Tucker Carlson or Tulsi Gabbard have realized yet: How exactly does deluded violent Russian Ethno-Nationalism work out for your ass if you ain't Russian?

American "Conservatives" are the people who loudly and publicly lose their shit over people teaching actual American history, who get mad when people speak languages other than American English...or even speak that too well. So, how the hell do you suppose These Fucking People would react to Russification (And remember, these are the people who think wearing a mask to the grocery store is the end of the world) let alone collectivization and Sovietization?

I mean, I suppose they could console themselves by watching other people starve to death when that first "Five Year Plan" turns out to be shit that some loud drunk who's known for talking up a bunch of obnoxious bullshit on TV just pulled out of his ass...

Because that, quite honestly, is where this is headed if the Russians conquer anywhere else. This is what the Russian lunatic-Right wants for the rest of the world. And, so long as they think it isn't going to affect their power and wealth it's what certain far-right "Conservatives" think they want, too.

For the rest of us, anyway.

It never works out that way, but you can't tell these people anything.

I'm not sure these people understand that Russian propaganda that Putin and his lackeys keep feeding their own people paints everybody other than ethnic Russians as either an extremist, a Nazi, or a lackey thereof...and, quite honestly, what this may eventually mean for ethnic minorities in an isolated Russia weakened by a war of its own making seems pretty horrible to contemplate.

All this fury and hate is eventually going to have to go somewhere, and at the rate things are going, it will get turned on Russian ethnic minorities when they figure out that attacking Ukraine was a bad idea and taking on NATO would be ever worse. Or they'll go after smaller, weaker neighboring countries that cannot defend themselves as well as the Ukrainians have. Or, quite likely, they'll do both.

Meanwhile, Marina Ovsyannikova (The news anchor with the sign, from yesterday) has been fined $256 and let go, after 14 hours of questioning by Russian police.

It seems like reality, even in Russia, isn't matching up very well with some people's violent fantasies.

But it's the violent fantasy that "Conservatives" want.

I wonder, how do you say "Make America Great Again" in Russian?

Might be a useful thing for some fucking people to know.

And don't think the rest of us aren't noticing, Republicans, just who you've stood up to be counted with and what they're saying they want. Those of us who care more about our freedom than about the price of gas are getting tired of your bullshit.

There will be a reckoning.
