I saw this today, Madison Cawthorn was caling Zelinskyy a "Thug" and saying that the Ukraine government is "evil" and "Pushing woke ideology."

I mean, I get that "Woke ideology" is one of those Magic Words And Phrases that can mean almost anything, but...What?

You know, I'd just like to point out that with the exception of open military service for LGBT people, Ukraine is roughly on par with the US in the 2000's on the topic of LGBT rights and that's purely from the government side of things, the actual social environment is worse than that (somewhat conservative, and religious) although there are LGBT organizations and Pride parades and stuff. Things aren't as bad as they could be, but it still ain't San Francisco.

In other words, it's a typical situation for much of how the global "Other Half" lives. Actually, probably on the better end of that spectrum. 

So yeah, "Woke ideology" my ass.

Of course, Madison Cawthorn is a Russian quisling. We already knew that. But what the hell is Fox News getting out of this shit? 

I mean, seriously, are ALL of the "Conservatives" taking Russian mob money? At this point, I think that's not just a national security issue, but an issue of global security as a whole.

But to me at least, it's more than that.

How in the actual fuck did we get from Ronald Reagan speaking at the Brandenburg Gate and telling Mr. Gorbachev to "Tear Down This Wall" to this silly bullshit??

I used to be a Republican. This shit makes me angry. I don't give a damn.

And I don't care, shit needs to be said. 

I keep hearing about Putin's and Russia's "Christian values" but I sure ain't ever seen those "Values." Seen a dude dressed like Liberace's Garden Gnome talking bad about gay people, though. Apparently "Conservatives" think these two things are equivalent, or something.

I'll never get it, and I don't care to, either. The Russians do not give a fuck about you. Putin does not fucking care. That dude persecutes Evangelicals, Fundamentalists, and Pentecostals in Russia.

Which is exactly why those people in Ukraine are fighting so hard for their country to remain free.

Not that American "Conservatism" such as it is gives a damn about Christianity or Jesus anymore. They had a new Orange god for awhile...but now they're going to shove him out of the way and replace him with an angry, deluded little man who was trained by the KGB to hate America.

There's a reason for this happening.

The same people who hated and feared the KGB 40 years ago, as if the very name could conjure demons...basically want KGB agent Vladimir Putin to conquer not only Ukraine but America and the EU as well. And they want this, just because Putin cynically plays their Culture War bullshit, gives their politicians money, is cruel to LGBT people and kills his political opposition.

Why? Because the cruelty is the point and, fundamentally, right-wingers hate America.

Because everything from America's tradition of expanding liberties...which is enshrined in our founding documents...to our form of capitalism which has to give more people social equality simply to maintain itself, to the American way of war and the concept of the citizen-soldier (and increasingly, the citizen in general) basically offends these fucking people.

Censorship, conscription, control, rationing, secrecy, and the ethos that the "Leader" can do no wrong as the country is led both by and for the small group of oligarchs at the top for only their own personal profit...is apparently the future that "Conservatives" want. 

Because every last one of these jackoffs thinks they gonna be the chairman of Gazprom someday or some shit. 

While the soldiers are given food that's seven years out-of-date. I'm sorry, I spent 18 years dealing with food safety regulations on a constant, nightly basis. I just can't even with that one.

Or maybe they just want to be told where they stand in some bullshit hierarchy and given permission to kick those beneath them?

I mean, you'd think the fact that the Ukrainian Army is kicking the shit out of the Russian Army might break the spell, or something. But...you'd think, and that's your problem...as a friend of mine likes to put it.

For all of their talk, the modern "Conservative" movement is shockingly...Soviet...in its behavior.

So of course they gonna be down with old Vlad. 

They don't give a damn if Russians can't get enough food to eat and their country is regressing to the Soviet era...or if Ukrainians are eating MRE's in bomb shelters while their soldiers take on tanks with Javelin missiles like a modern version of the Afghan Mujahideen

And then they'll have the nerve to bitch about America, because they have to pay a little more for gas or something. 

All because their newfound god started a war of conquest against an undeserving neighbor.

And if anything, they're even more mad because the Ukrainians are fighting back effectively.

This is not the faith of our fathers and grandfathers. Not anymore.
