I mean, fucking seriously, people. I am not joking when I say that every single interpretation of that event that I have ever read or even heard of said that Lucifer was cast out of Heaven and became Satan because of hubris, because he boasted that he would "Exalt himself even above the stars of God" and then he immediately got thrown out. God bum-rushed him out the door like Uncle Phil throwing Jazz out of the house in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Well then I saw this, and I mean, Goddamn it, people, what the fuck?
The same fucking people who are bitching that America is "Not Free" because they can't go get a toaster without being told to socially distance are enabling this stupid fucking shit, large political protests that are basically miniature far-right rallies where people are not being safe or socially distancing in the fucking least. I mean come on, what the fuck is wrong with you?! I would think if you want this to be over you'd stay the fuck home or at least have the sense to socially distance and wear a mask if you have to go out, because more new cases means this shit goes on for longer, and more people die, and your chances of getting this goddamn virus yourself get even worse. Listen, I know these fucking people can't go five goddamned minutes without contradicting themselves, but damn.

I grumbled when this first started that these Reopen "Protests" were basically a scam to get people to spread the virus. Whether that's the intention or not I appear to have been right. I mean, goddamn, people, do you want to die?
Seriously, people, going around ignoring this crap and thinking it won't happen to you is not only not an appropriate answer, and taking the risk of killing your neighbors or random people you encounter, but it runs a better than average chance of getting you killed, too.
That's what the rich elites like Betsy DeVos want, because they think there will be more for them when it's all over, if they survive. And of course they think "It won't happen to them."
And honestly, that's one of the things that mystifies me about the last few years, the whole Trump thing and the conservative response to COVID-19 in particular. Whatever political and social awareness these people had, along with survival skills and even basic survival instincts have gone right out the fucking window. Like Japanese soldiers charging down American guns on Okinawa shouting "Banzai" they've got to know they're fucked, the economy and even their own polling is basically in the toilet, and people, including their own, are dying. But still, the damned rush in.
Meanwhile, people are dying, but HEY, you can get a hug at the carpet store. Doesn't that feel fucking great? I mean sure, people are dying, but some damn fool gets to have themselves an emotional ejaculation while imagining owning their equally imagined political enemies. Real deaths are occurring, a very real economic depression appears to be starting as there is literally no demand for a lot of this crap right now because consumer confidence is in the motherfucking toilet but hey, you can get a handshake or a hug because of some asshole's feel-good gesture. I wonder if they realize that if somebody gets sick and the contact is traced back to this store, they're going to be getting hit with a wrongful death lawsuit for not following social distancing or even obeying basic common goddamned sense.
The BAR gunners are firing down into their trenches from an elevated position, mortar rounds are streaking in from the heights above and all these damn fools can think to do is raise their swords and shout out their courage and loyalty to the Emperor as they charge...and die. Meanwhile, the command post cables another report of victory to the imperial high command in Tokyo.
These people want to die, and they want to take you with them.

Yeah, by all means go right on ahead thinking that history is written by the winners even as the game is yet months away from conclusion, your numbers are in the toilet, your voters are dying, and your country is imploding largely due to your own lack of leadership and utter incapability to understand that there's anything more to the world than keeping Donald Trump happy so that the gravy train keeps on rolling for a few more hours. It's not just that there's no plan nor underlying belief other than trying to preserve some semblance of their power. It's not just that the aloofness and cruelty are the point, or that people are being told "Let them eat cake." It's that the people doing this shit are mad that they're not being met with clapping and cheers and being slathered in glory by the mob of peasants that they see as nothing more than ambulatory equipment for meeting their own needs.
They think we're supposed to love them, even as they kill us.
I don't fucking think so.
And let me tell you where this crap comes from.
Yeah, you heard that right, just being "Christian" isn't enough, you have to be the right kind and keep giving these fucking assholes your money. Just like being a conservative isn't enough for these fucking people, you have to be a Q-bot and a Trump worshiper besides, and how they fit that together with Christianity and "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me" I'll never understand. The worst part is, the average conservative and even many Evangelicals is more ignorant of this stuff than the typical Agnostic, Atheist, mainstream Christian or non-Christian religious person that pays even the slightest amount of attention. And there's a reason for that. These fucking people have even apparently managed to stealth their way in and infiltrate the Southern Baptist Convention...which for most of my life was very theologically opposed to Pentecostal crap, as most mainstream Baptists or Baptist groups historically have been.
There's a reason for that, this kind of stuff leads to chasing after miracles, money and supernatural manifestations, it creates false prophets, false teachings, and the exact kind of spiritualist and seance type of stuff and fake "Magic" that used to be practiced by people like Aleister Crowley. In short, it's fucking bullshit that any first-grader in a Christian school can tell you is wrong. At it's worst this kind of garbage and the people who preach it literally copy New Age woo woo stuff word for word.
Granted, from my current secular perspective that kind of thing left on its own is hokey but fairly harmless. The difference is that these people fancy themselves some kind of a cross between Gandalf the wizard, Marianne Williamson, and the Pope...but with the express purpose of controlling your life, lying to you and taking your stuff...and in the view of traditional Christianity, much less the theologically conservative Baptist stream that was my last home within it...sending you to hell right along with them when you are dead. Like I said yesterday, these fucking people think they're going to tell God what to do.
It is, like most such mystery cults, built on the same old goddamned bullshit idea that if you say the right words in the right way and with a sufficient degree of passion, you can become God. Or of course, there's always the old long con of "I know the way to heaven and if you send me $20 so can you!" But of course the way to heaven always changes, they have to keep the money rolling in somehow.
And these are the people who got Evangelicalism square behind Donald Trump. Not because they believe...but because they don't. You don't call a doctor when your car breaks down or a mechanic when you have a brain tumor...just like you don't get a libertine who is not a believer to be President if you want a more Christian country.
In short, it's all crap, and only human ego and hubris would convince anybody that this is going to pass, or that God or the Universe would ever accept it. The Truth is free. If you want to be a Christian you can literally get a Bible for free from any number of churches or non-governmental organizations most places in the world, and damned near your own choice of translation, too.
But it's hard for people like Paula White to make money off of that, see.
Religion and spirituality are a personal matter in which fakery and hubris don't do anybody any good. If you want to find God, if you want to participate in the divine conversation...you have to do the work yourself, and along the way you're going to have to face your own bullshit and...as they say in alcoholics or narcotics anonymous...you have to conduct a fearless moral inventory. You have to face your own dark side to even begin to overcome it, and it's a daily process that never stops and is always work.
And if you don't do the work, it doesn't matter anyway. The old Christian standby is that Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. Care to guess how many of these Holy Rollers and Tongues-Talkers have a relationship with anything more than their own brain chemicals?! How do you think Donald Trump slimed his way into their hearts in the first place?!
Seriously, what the fuck do any of these idiots think would happen if somebody came along and called them on their fucking bullshit? What's that guy going to do, try and hit somebody with his wooden machine gun?!
Government policy, medical stuff, religion and weapons all have one thing in common. They require knowledge to use, even from and end-user perspective and if you're not taught properly and conscientious of what you're doing at all times that shit'll kill ya.
And only human hubris would ever convince anybody otherwise. These people are fake conservatives, fake Christians and fake warriors, all with one goal in mind...that they'll kill you one way or another and then you can go to hell too. And if you think they care any more about our country than they do your life, you have another thing coming.
But them? At least some of these people? They think they're going to somehow bullshit God.
They think their wealth is a sign that God loves them and going to Heaven is their birthright, rather than that Salvation is a gift that you don't have to earn...but you do have to keep.
They don't care if you, or all of their followers, are cast into the Abyss or wandering the Underworld for all of eternity. They want their convenience and power and wealth now.
It bears mentioning again that straight and narrow is the way, but broad is the road that leads to destruction.
