I saw this yesterday.

Mike Pence wants to retaliate for mass shootings by...expediting the executions of mass shooters. Mass shooters whose usual objective is either to go out in a blaze of glory or to commit suicide. 

That is, after they kill enough people. Yes, you heard me. I'm not kidding. Mike Pence thinks killing one more will somehow turn the trick and change something.

I mean...what the fuck??

First, whatever happened to "Thou Shalt Not kill" and why is this so hard for these fucking people?? Also, I can damned near still hear my Grandma's voice in my ear telling me that "Two wrongs don't make a right." 

Second, I'm not particularly pro-death penalty but nor am I totally 100% against it, I do believe that it should be very hard for the State to kill people and that very much is a remnant of conservative belief that there need to be checks on the Power of the State.

Tell me something. Do you trust Donald Trump with...well....anything?? Yeah, that's what I thought.

That check, is supposed to be us, The People.

And I frankly don't trust these fucking people with any abridgment of Death Penalty processes, for any reason.

I'm by nature extremely skeptical of this new brand of "Unlimited Government Conservatives" and "State Power Republicans" simply because that's not what I was taught those words even mean.

A "Conservative" who wants to use the Power of the State to force getting their own way is, simply put, a fascist.

I'm not sure I'm all that worried, simply because after that soup sandwich of a debate, the donors are trying to draft Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin as a candidate. I mean, WTF??

Republicans...particularly the radicals running the House Republicans...are making it damned near impossible to run a country right now...as it looks like we're into a Government Shutdown now.

I think their strategy and/or the inevitable result is that they will lose it, but I think their goal is to get what they want via a forced-negotiated settlement and international "Sympathy" from the Authoritarianism, Inc. nations. But here's the thing...they just might get away with it.

Let me give you an example; The internationally-unrecognized Republic of Artsakh...an ethnic Armenian enclave in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan...fell to the Azerbaijani Army last week after a long blockade of the region. 100,000 people (80% of the unrecognized state's population, thus far) have fled the country, with more certainly to follow. 

And despite the involvement of the US Government in providing aid to the refugees and the fact that this whole mess is drawing Armenia away from Russia and closer to the EU, NATO and the USA...which I have seen something about that, just lacking an explanation as to why...I've seen all of two articles about it in Western media, both via Threads.

To put this into a "Conservative" framework like you'd see on FOX News...a Christian country just fell to an enemy nation that's basically a combination of Communist leftovers and Radical Islam and no one cared. And this happened with the full connivance and support of Turkey, a major US ally.

Think about that, take all the time you need.

The precedent has been set, somebody's getting away with this shit in the modern world.

Me? I'm not a born-again anything and I thought of the Abomination of Desolation from Matthew 24 just reading about it.

I'm not sure if American media just doesn't care or if knowledge of this situation is being quietly suppressed...but if it's simply that there's a major ethnic cleansing going on and nobody noticed, that doesn't say good things about us in general all by itself.

And it's a safe bet the media obsessing about domestic political bullshit, Republican circus-stunts like that "debate" and trying to turn Biden Vs. Trump into a horserace isn't helping with this shit.

Yesterday Donald Trump lost all his business licenses in New York, after years of overvaluing his properties and scamming investors. Apparently, his properties will have to be sold, he and his sons lose the right to operate businesses in the state, and the Trump Organization itself has been ordered to be dissolved. I can't help but think there's going to be a lot of ripple-effects from this, because if I had to guess I'd say Trump didn't have his shit properly licensed and all that in a lot of other places. So, long story short, he's going to lose his ass.

Today, Eric Trump basically just kept trying to do the same goddamn thing.

At the recent confirmation hearing for the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, when General Charles Q Brown, Jr. was talking about the value of integrated air defense...integrated air and missile defense being an important Department Of Defense program for 20 years or so now...and Tommy Tuberville thought it was some kind of a racial thing and then voted against Brown's confirmation. It didn't matter, Brown was confirmed anyway. 

But the issue here is that Tuberville would just respond to some important national interest and super-technical project with nothing but knee-jerk lizard-brain racism because somebody said "Integrated" and fundamentally the stupid motherfucker is too dumb to realize that words can have multiple meanings.

Fuck you, dude. No, seriously, fuck you.

And the simple fact is...nothing matters to these morons.

They fully subscribe to the "New Right"/Putinist belief that Power is the only thing that matters, that there is no freedom, no law, no morality, except for that which is decreed by Power. So, basically everything is a joke...except whatever some idiot strongman wants.

They can't seem to understand that other people might have other beliefs, that a grassroots movement might actually be genuine, or that ya know, Cold War spawn like me who grew up worried about being incinerated in a nuclear fireball (with our biggest worry when we served a decade later being which of two crappy posts we'd PCS to when the base we were at closed because the Soviet Union was gone) might actually not like a dirty Chekist like Putin or not want to bow down to the Hammer and Sickle like they do.

Because Russians are willing to cosplay as "Conservatives" for five minutes when they think there's a Western audience and because Russian Orthodox Christianity seems to entirely consist of hate for LGBT people, or something.

Nobody, least of all Black people, Disabled people, Latinos, LGBT people, non-Christians, other People of Color, Ukrainians (or any non-Russian Europeans) women or even the "Wrong" kind of Christians (which is pretty much anybody who doesn't think Trump is Jesus) has any incentive to go along with these fucking people's bullshit.

This was the first thing I saw when I logged on this morning, Newt Gingrich bitching about the Freedom Caucus (and presumably their impending government shutdown) on Fox News.

Bro, the concepts of government shutdowns and this trash-fire politics (not to mention the bottomless well of Republican hypocrisy as it now exists) wouldn't even have entered the American political thought process if it wasn't for your ugly old Jabba The Hutt-looking ass! 

It still baffles me that Newt got somebody to marry him the first time (much less that she was an older woman who should've known better) then cheated on his first wife with his eventual second, and his second wife with his eventual third. I mean, maybe it's just me...but I've never seen Newt Gingrch as anything more than some slimy snidely-whiplash douchebag whose parents didn't give him enough ass-whuppins, and you'd think a consistent record of adultery would make women not want to associate with a dude.

Newt Gingrich disgusts me, as much as Donald Trump does, he always has, and for the same reason.

And I say that as a former Republican who voted mostly-Republican in 1994. Everything these absolute motherfuckers said they were going to do was a lie...and it was blatantly obvious by the end of their first year that all any of these sons of bitches wanted to do was screw with Bill Clinton and use political power to do so. Whether their bullshit antics hurt an Airman like me, or indeed, any regular people was 100% beneath them to notice and they didn't give a shit.

I was an active-duty Airman during both of the Gingrich government shutdowns, and I didn't get paid. It was enough to make me vote for more Democrats than Republicans in 1996, even though I still preferred Bob Dole to Bill Clinton.

Note: I was never a fan of Bill Clinton, old Slick Willie always struck me as an insincere slime-ball...and I voted for him the first time, too.

But I absolutely hated Newt Gingrich. It disgusted me how too many House Republicans just fell in line with his bullshit, scorched-earth dictates. I mean, seriously, how the fuck do you ever expect people to do their jobs if you won't let them talk to the other party?? Governance by definition means you have to be able to compromise!

And if we're being honest, I'm damned glad that he got ran out of politics the minute that it came out that he was cheating on his wife at the exact same time as he was impeaching Bill Clinton for the same shit.

Go fuck yourself all the way off, Newt.

Seriously, has anyone seen the political fortunes of Byron Donalds, John James, Ron DeSantis or Tim Scott lately? Shit, even Mitt Romney is retiring, and the Michigan Republican Party that his family once utterly dominated is not only broke, but destroying itself.

And this garbage started with guys like Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay, Donald Trump just saw it and took advantage...then further took advantage of the fact that Republicans were a bunch of out-of-touch ninnies who disdained, feared and hated their own voters.

The thing is, once you have a culture of corruption, narcissism and political warfare, sooner or later that shit is going to start infecting everything else.

Republicans are just mad as hell that Republicanism never has been all that accepted in the arts the way that Putin-Communism apparently has, hence the Submachinegun ballet, or whatever the fuck this crap is supposed to be.

And we wonder why Republicans love Russia??

This crap is apparently what Republicans think they want to be whenever they grow up.

When that time comes, I wonder if Newt Gingrich will abandon Traditionalist Catholicism for Russian Orthodoxy the same way he abandoned one wife for another??

If you want to know why these fucking people's ideal world is one of two power-blocs or two super-states, constantly at war be it Cold or Hot. The West as we know it...most of the Americas, the EU/NATO, Israel, Ukraine, most of Asia on a purely financial basis, much of North Africa and US-friendly Middle Eastern countries on one side...and Authoritarianism, Inc. Iran, North Korea, Russia, its various Central and West-African hangers-on, and Saudi Arabia...with places like the United Arab Emirates and whatever nominally American banana republic these fuckers get (and since Russian oligarchs will eventually demand a gateway/loophole to Western luxury, I see such as inevitable) as some kind of neutral space...that's why.

The true "Capitol" of Capital and Authoritarian wealth won't be London or Moscow or New York City, in the end it'll be somewhere like Dubai or Miami.

Because the ideal world of modern "Conservatism" is one of glittering wealth and vapid support for Power, with "Conservatism" demanded only of the masses (except anybody with a big enough following of dipshits can and will just declare themselves "god" until they get smacked down by somebody else, at least) while the real elites play out their fuck-fuck games and petty "Honor Culture" vengeances for fun and profit not only with no accountability, but shielded by media, power and wealth so we don't even have the right to know what they're up to.

Whatever Unga Bunga Imperial Cult rituals are needed to access that shit, be they of Radical Islamic or Traditionalist Catholic nature...people like Newt Gingrich don't fucking care. Nor are they required to appear to, any longer.

I saw this when I got up this morning.

Indiana Republican House Rep. Victoria Spartz talking stupid about the January 6th insurrection, and comparing modern America to the Soviet Union.

And this bitch is Ukrainian and lived her early life under the Soviet system! She should goddamned well know better. But I guess that's what modern Republicanism makes of people. Reagan Wept.

I was a Cold War kid who grew up with the not-unreasonable fear that I'd either die in a nuclear war or be killed in a conventional WWIII before everybody else died in a nuclear war. The Soviet Union was, to this American, the absolute bad guys and that is not a joke. 

In point of fact, we thought the Soviets were so bad that we gleefully allied with Radical Islam to take them down! (Oops.)

Then, as I've said before, I came home from school and an afternoon counseling appointment one evening a couple weeks before my 16th birthday to find out just how much the world had changed while I was busy that day...and watched live on CNN as ordinary Germans took sledgehammers to the Berlin Wall while East German border guards stood and watched with rifles slung.

A couple years later, and on Christmas Day, no less...they hauled down the Hammer and Sickle from the staff outside the Kremlin and raised the Russian tricolor in its place. Merry Christmas, World!

A couple more years, and I'd go on to serve in United States Air Force in the fading shadow of the Cold War, which we'd Won, by the way. I put in my time, mostly, but was medically discharged early due to injuries sustained in a car accident. The more I think about those days, especially in the context of now, I wonder why? What was even the point?

I was a Republican at the time, when that meant one could be more than a bigot or a traitor. Now? Republicans don't even appreciate America.

While I'm at it, let's take a look and see what flag the Russian army that these Ukrainian soldiers are fighting against is flying, shall we?

Well...that seems a little inconvenient for the Spartz Narrative, now doesn't it??

So, modern America is like the Soviet Union...but the Russian Army that we're supporting the Ukrainians to fight against is the ones flying the actual Hammer and Sickle??

Meanwhile, America generally leans toward more freedom, and preserving the ones we already have (That Republicans want to take away) but Vladimir Putin is effectively re-Sovietizing Russian society and instituting Communism in all but name, and (last I checked) somewhere around a million Russians had left the country because of it.

Seems like one of these things is not like the other one.

Ah, well, I've been saying "Republicans are basically Communists now" since Trump started talking about building his wall in 2015 and turning America into East Germany.

So what the hell do I know??

At this point, being a Republican who hasn't lost the plot and basically converted to fascism or Putinist Neo-Communism basically makes one a Democrat, which pretty much leaves me wondering just what the fuck these idiots think (or thought) that Christianity or conservatism even meant.

They seem to think both are little more than angry tribal religions, which do not command "Love Thy Neighbor" or "Things As They Are" but demands "Fight your enemy/neighbor/pretty much everybody" and "Kick over the table if you don't get every damn thing you want." And this shit commands respect or reverence not of Jesus Christ or Ronald Reagan but...literal worship of Donald Trump??

And then they manage to get not just a former Soviet immigrant, but a Ukrainian lady to say this stupid bullshit?

I still maintain that modern Republicanism is an ideology that makes people be less than the sum of their parts...and honestly, at this point, for what??

It's not like Donald Trump is ever going to be loyal in return, for all the slavish, slobbering loyalty he demands. 

He's thrown pretty much everybody who ever served him under the bus, no reputable lawyers want to work for him, even. Trump wrecked the Republican Party...pretty much destroyed their shit and stole their lunch money outside of "safe" states that are rapidly becoming less safe and he's sucked up the donors and the Party's money like a Singularity in a binary solar system spending eternity devouring the other star. Here in Michigan the Republican Party basically got mugged by the Democrats and in Response, Republicans are spending all their time fighting each other, the Party is broke, and the last couple cycles I've seen more and more signs for increasingly hokey "Independent Conservative" candidates around here.

And they're trying to throw out the basic middle-of-the-road Republican state Rep. we have because he *Checks Notes* voted with Democrats for basic shit that we all need, once or twice.

Dude that's running to unseat him scans as a Freedom Caucus type kook.

It's to the point where things have escalated into actual brawls between different factions.

Ya know, as far as I'm concerned if you motherfuckers don't want to live in America as it is, if you shitheads prefer Banana Republic bullshit...you can leave.

Just remember, you fuckers have to give back all your "Evil" American money first.

And at best, Republicans like Victoria Spartz want to have their cake and eat it too, choose both the Cross of Christ and the Hammer and Sickle. To say that the Invasion of Ukraine is a crime perpetrated by a crazy man, but then criticize Ukraine and ultimately serve those who'd just love it if the Republican Party slimed its way back into power and threw the EU, NATO and Ukraine under the treads of T-72 tanks in the service of their Russian master. 

You can't really do all that, but you can't tell these fucking people anything.
