Some idiot hired a plane to fly over Jacksonville, Florida, with a Confederate Flag banner. Apparently, again.
Something something blah blah insulting the mayor or some shit.
I don't know why, and I don't care.
But, I do feel that I need to repeat myself:
Fuck the Confederate Flag.
Fuck anybody who believes in the Confederate Flag and its cause of Slavery and war for profit. Fuck anybody who celebrates the Confederate Flag. Fuck anybody who flies the Confederate flag. Fuck anybody who wears the Confederate flag.
Fuck anybody who thinks the Confederate Flag is anything more than a banner for the cause of racism, or a symbol of the human bondage of Slavery, or of an Army that took free people and sold them into slavery for a profit.
The goddamned slavers routinely broke up families and raped children and women, and every goddamned day they exploited the unpaid labor of Black Slaves to reap stupendous profits and wealth for themselves. The entire goddamned system even grossly undervalued the labor of White workers.
And no one in the system cared, because racism, that's why.
And fuck the whole goddamned "Lost Cause" narrative that makes it seem as this should somehow be palatable to modern White People.
And if you believe that shit has any place in 21st Century America, FUCK YOU TOO!
It's really that goddamned simple, and if you have a problem with it, you don't deserve to know why. I've said this enough times. YOU look at my shit and YOU figure it the fuck out!
The worst part is, there's plenty of White people here in 21st Century America who think the Slaveholding South was something special or wonderful. As somebody familiar with the real history from a lifetime of study let me remind you: It Fucking Sucked if you weren't some rich white male Planter.
And in the Antebellum South, nobody else really had much of anything, either.
You ask me, the only reason that shit gets glorified today is a lot of White Dudes still think they gonna be the old Colonel Sanders looking motherfucker in the Big House some day. The joke's on them, it was a pretty damned well closed system.
The world is damn lucky I'm not in charge because if it was, I'd order the Florida Air National Guard, or the Navy or whoever had a minute and some appropriate weapons to shoot that shit down.
Your ass wants to fly the flag of the enemies of America, you should get treated as an enemy of America.
But let me ask you something, "Conservatives."
If somebody else were flying the white banner of the Taliban, or shouting "Death To America" in the streets...right here in the United States, in a place like Jacksonville, FL...how would you react??
If you saw somebody walking down the street with the Black Banner of Jihad, or the Seven-star flag of the People's Republic of China, or the flag of the Vietcong, what would you do?
If your ass ran into some young dude trying to rock that Che Guevara-chic 1960's look at the bar, after you Googled that shit and got done laughing you'd still want to punch the kid in the face, wouldn't you??
(You'll note for the moment I'm leaving enemy flags like the Hammer and Sickle or the Swastika out of it because there's people on the Right who'd bow down to that shit, and you and I both know it.)
I mean, shit, there's still people out there...people who weren't even alive at the time...who call Jane Fonda "Hanoi Jane" every time she pops up in the news. Now, whatever ill-thought-out stunt she was trying to pull...I don't see much point in still being mad about it almost 50 years later. I mean for fuck's sake the infamous picture of her sitting on that North Vietnamese antiaircraft gun...what was over a year before I was even born.
But there's people still mad about it.
Well, if it's "insulting veterans" or some kind of political statement that's got your undies in a twist about that...
The goddamned Confederates killed and wounded one hell of a lot more United States Army soldiers than the North Vietnamese Army or the Vietcong ever did.
So you fuckers tell me, why is that shit Okay?
I'll wait.
Because at this point, the evidence is mounting on a daily basis that the Right hates America just as much as the Confederates or the Nazis or the Soviets or the Taliban ever did and that soon, they're going to act on that hatred.
I've gotten the vibe more than once that These Fucking People look at what Putin is doing in Ukraine, and they think they want to do that shit here in America. Well, motherfuckers, I'm here to tell you as a United States Air Force veteran, that you'll lose your war just as bad as Vlad is losing his war and for the same goddamned reasons.
It's funny that they went in flying the Hammer And Sickle too. Loser armies like loser flags, I guess.
And if I was you, I'd be careful what causes and flags you "identify" with. Y'all damn lucky that you fuckin' traitors have been consistently treated very well here in America. You've had it too good, if you ask me. (And yes, that's part of the problem.)
America has had Abraham Lincoln and MLK Jr. and Black Lives Matter.
The White Rhodesians had to deal with Robert Mugabe and most of them got kicked out of the country that they too, right or wrong, fought for. And they sure as hell did not get much sympathy from the rest of the world.
Why are so many Americans still waving the goddamn Confederate Flag around 158 years after that shit logically ceased to have any more value than a piece of toilet paper?
The time's going to come when the rest of us stop feeling so merciful. Get over your shit and deal with the fact that it's the 21st Century while you still can.
Because Fuck The Confederate Flag, that's why.
