These goddamned people would bow down before the Aquila, the Confederate Flag, the Hammer And Sickle, or the Swastika if it gave them a sure route to power. They don't like the Stars And Stripes because it doesn't, because they have to ask us first, and they think that's beneath them. 

They don't give a good goddamn about what they've got to do or say to secure that power. Well, there's that, and there's the fact that they hate everybody...including each other...as much because anybody could theoretically be a rival for power as anything else. But if it gives them an Authoritarian Gospel to preach, and someone to hate, and possibly kill, or a thing to use to manipulate the masses they'll spread it.

Of course what I just said was true 50 years ago...but by now there's plenty of these assholes who believe whatever hateful bullshit they're shoveling, too.

And/or they never believed anybody deserved any rights in the first goddamned place, except maybe them. That's always how it works, they think they're different.

But what it all really comes down to is always the same shit. There's a common story about Chuck Colson in American conservative Christian circles that says before his jailhouse conversion to Christianity "He'd have run over his own grandmother if it would've got Richard Nixon elected President. 

And we're still dealing with that same amoral mentality. We're still stuck with these people whose brains are still stuck in 1972 and they still haven't accepted that a majority of people didn't like segregation and all the abuse they heaped on Black people. Please, for the love of God, let's kick these people to the goddamned curb and move this country forward. I'm tired of this shit.

Like, literally for most of my life nobody was cool with all this racist, sexist bullshit. It was there, but more underground. I got kicked in the balls for a whole hell of a lot less as a teenager.

I'm serious, if all this kind of amoral, aspiritual, self-serving, stupid bullshit had openly been the standard when I was coming up I'd probably be dead or in prison. A lot of people need to have something to believe in...and this crap ain't it. 

The part of it I don't get is, who looks at all this fucking garbage and finds hope or a higher cause in this shit?

Even the leaders anymore openly have no higher belief or cause than themselves. "Me" isn't a reason to go out and do much. There's not really any strictly-profit motive in advancing humanity or making life better or reaching for the stars. Republicans are on record saying they don't want people to have faith in America, or in government. The closest thing they get to any cause greater than the Self is the Personality Cult of Donald Trump...or Vladimir Putin.

Unless it's hate, murder, and racism.

Can't say I ever heard of the Segregationist cops at the Edmund Pettus Bridge on Bloody Sunday going around years later, being proud of what they'd done.

In 50 years the old Black Man who, as a young smart-aleck kid joined the Black Lives Matter protests after George Floyd was killed, he'll have something he can tell his grandkids and great-grandkids, his chest filling with pride and his eyes looking far away as he remembers the marching, the shouting, and the fire. But he'll know...they always do...that it's not over.

The pro-choice protester will still be able to wear that little kitty-ears beanie with pride in 50 years, and tell her gardening club or the grandkids or the younger crowd at Pride what she did, and inspire the next generation...because there will still be those battles to fight.

In 50 years the Ukrainian soldier in this picture who just got married will dig his Multi-Cam jacket out of the closet on Victory Day or whatever they'll call it, and go out and watch the parade with his old bros and they'll drink and remember the ones who didn't make it. And he too, will be able to tell his grandchildren about what he did...or simply say in the way of old warriors that he did his duty for his country but he'd rather talk about something else. Few people who've ever looked upon one battlefield truly wish to see another.

And the goddamned White Supremacists? They'll still be slinking criminals who have to hide their affiliations.

The closeted gay (or bisexual) Evangelical Republicans? I imagine they'll still be closeted, shitty little haters using their proximity to power to "get away with" something they could just do naturally if they accepted who they are and acted like normal people do about such things.

Yes, being gay is perfectly normal. Being a person of color is perfectly normal. Being a woman or any other kind of damn person and wanting to have sovereignty over your own body is normal.

There need to be consequences on a national level for that bullshit.

If that doesn't tell you we need to stop these fucking people now, politically, before it ever gets to the level of violence here I don't know what will. 

The Ukrainians are for the most part holding the line. But don't think these fucking Republicans wouldn't try to join them in this new "Conservative" way of war against the innocent and undeserving and those who are simply trying to defend themselves.

And trust me, then we're going to have to be ready for the next thing.

Because if you don't think These Fucking People would break off a piece f America and send hordes of uneducated, ill-trained conscripts with decades-old rifles, spoiled food and no working equipment up against a modern army of trained soldiers with advanced technology and modern weapons, fighting to defend democracy and freedom, you have another thing coming.

Black Banners, One.

The only other important thing to be said about Fear & Loathing at this time is that it was fun to write, and that's rare — for me, at least, because I've always considered writing the most hateful kind of work. I suspect it's a bit like fucking — which is fun only for amateurs. Old whores don't do much giggling. Nothing is fun when you have to do it — over and over, again and again — or else you'll be evicted, and that gets old. Yesterday, a draft of a Supreme Court decision reversing Roe. Vs. Wade was leaked to the media.

I'll note that for multiple reasons this is a terrible idea, and if the sheer amount of public rage I've seen in the last day or so is any indication, Republicans are going to get their asses kicked over this. You don't change anything that from 58% to 75% of Americans support and not expect there'll be hell to pay. You'd think Republicans would have learned that after the Trump years, but no.

And especially considering that in the leaked document, Sam Alito seems to gleefully anticipate going after other decisions he doesn't like. Presumably, interracial marriage and LGBT rights, for example.

This seems to have gone over badly enough that it Republicans aren't even talking about it, except trying to redirect the focus onto the leak itself. And that's not working either, because nobody cares.

Several people that I follow have caught on to something I thought of right away. If these fuckers want to go after any right that's by court decision or otherwise not enumerated in statute, that leaves open a whole hell of a lot of territory that most people don't...indeed have never even had to...think about before.

Republicans have openly supported totalitarian fascism for awhile. But this SCOTUS bullshit adds another aspect: 

All that is not forbidden is permitted.

Think about how few aspects of the vast swirl of modern life texts like the Bible or the US Constitution actually describe or legislate or regulate...not out of malice, but simply due to the attrition of time and the advance of progress. And then think about how narrowly these sons of bitches choose to interpret those texts when they bother to obey them at all. Think about how much power that kind of mentality could give somebody in a position like being a Supreme Court Justice.

But there's lots of Republicans like that...

All they care about is their own pleasure and power. They flaunt their evil and the media treats politics as some kind of a catty game.

And an electorate that's been apathetic until the last six or seven years...combined with a media and political class desperate to return to "normal" or create the next crisis they can cash in on...makes them think they'll eventually get away with it all.

And for the eventuality that they don't...well, that's the real reason for this shit. 

Bear with me;

A lot of elected Republicans, strangely, seem not to be celebrating this decision. They're crapping their pants about it, because nobody ever really thought this would happen.

But for decades, these fucking people have pushed hate of abortion and women's liberation like drugs. They've written whole continent-spanning forests worth of dystopian novels about what might happen if reproductive freedom were an unquestioned right. I'm serious.

Seriously, how the fuck is bodily sovereignty or medical care not an unquestioned right??

These people live in terror of a world where Abortion is freely available and you have to have a license to get a gun. (In other words, most of the rest of the First World nations.)

Think about that for a second.

Now, whether they wanted to or not, whether they were thinking about this or not (and worse, I suspect they weren't) Alito and his clique have just pissed pure rocket fuel onto the smoldering fires of the Culture War.

And I find it interesting that this happens at a time when #1 America is clearly becoming less conservative and #2 We're staring down the barrel of a renewed Cold War with a New Soviet Union...if not the possibility of WWIII.

I think it's deliberate. I think civil conflict...if not straight-up civil war...is the goal. Certainly, that's what a section of the Republican Base wants.

And like I wrote yesterday there's one hell of a lot of these right-wing Jihadist types who seem desperate to martyr themselves for their shitty beliefs...and more to the point, to be seen doing so.

Which suggests for some it's just a scam. Certainly, at the top of the heap, that's true.

But I'm here to tell you, for many others, it isn't. 

There's Evangelicals, Fundamentalist Christians, Pentecostals and particularly Radical Catholics out there who are every bit as fucked in the head as some "Death To America" screaming, Black Banner-carrying Jihadist who's toting an AK-47. And most of them don't get interviewed on FOX News or by the New York Times nor get fake books like J.D. Vance's Hillbilly Elegy written about them.

They're the nuts in the crowd in the picture that MTG posted, the unshaven, overweight, contrarian nerd boy in your gaming group, and the red-haired girl with the crazy eyes that works in the Deli at Walmart.

They're the door-to-door Baptists from a different church that kept showing up in the summer of 1999, despite being told not to. And they didn't stop until I met them at the door with a clunky late-1990's cell phone in one hand and a loaded shotgun in the other. And I told them if they didn't leave immediately, I was going to call the Sheriff's department and have them arrested for stalking. I'd already spoken to Deputies about it and provided documentation, too.

And I was a Baptist at the time, just not Baptist enough for those fucking nuts. They left and they didn't come back, but that wasn't my last brush with the Crazy.

They're the Pentecostal flying monkeys from my ex-wife's church that she sicked on me in a saga that lasted for several weeks, ended up with both me and the community college that I attended threatening legal action and multiple stalking charges actually pressed...and a couple people went to jail.

They're the Calvinist dickhead on the Christian forum threatening Gays and Lesbians with burning at the stake.

And they'll be the fucking weirdos and harassers and stalkers of more secular varieties, too.

This is what SCOTUS just enabled, and given half a chance the nuts will be up all of our asses bothering us about "Have We Found Jesus Yet?" and demanding the right to tell the rest of us how to live our lives, and inflicting all type of unnecessary totalitarian bullshit on LGBT folk, people of color, and women. It ain't just Abortion they're after.

And they'll lose their shit and turn to violence when people defend themselves, and when there's the inevitable, heavy civil and legal resistance too, when cities and regions and states...not to mention the Federal government...codify protections they dislike, that were previously on this judicial-based honor system. And especially when the State has to defend itself and its people against these fucking barbarians, and it will come to that. Yes, when they can't get their way politically or it doesn't work out how they planned, they'll resort to violence and war.

And then Republican politicians will try and defend that shit, like Lisa Murkowski trying to claim that Ukrainian soldiers "weren't getting enough training" to use Javelin missiles. Javelin was after my time, but you can learn to use a rocket launcher in about an hour...and the Ukrainians were some damned gifted amateurs for like five minutes. Now the average Ukrainian infantry brigade is a tank-killing machine.

I suspect it won't be all that long before we join the Ukrainians in posting pictures of guys we knew, bearded dude-bros who...regardless of their politics...stood up and fought to defend their country as people should.

And Republicans will try to defend the bad guys and diabolically insinuate shit and rhetorically attack our own military when it happens here.

And then they'll do their damnedest to sell weapons and every other damn thing to both sides and turn a profit off of the war.

Seriously, do you think these "Pro-Life" fanatics would be hesitant in the least, in a divided country or one fighting against a right-wing insurgent war, to send suicide bombers into areas they control to blow up a women's health center, whether or not it provided abortions?

These fanatics have already murdered people in churches.

Even as a conservative I thought you couldn't get much lower than that. But then, I've always been more-or-less pro-choice myself simply because I would not want the responsibility of deciding for another. 

And I've always practiced safe sex.

And then the same fucking people have priggish religious dudes in Congress who then put it on camera that they got a hand job from another dude, they put up rapists as Supreme Court judges, and apparently they're running a Softcore Vampire Porn actress for the governor of my state.

I mean, are you fucking kidding me?

It's Bacchanalia at Ancient Roman levels for the "Christians" and the "Conservatives." It's "Childbirth As Punishment For Sex" for all the rest of us.

And I've seen multiple women just completely cut all of us dudes off today, and deservedly so.

I started seeing this yesterday.

The Russians are threatening to detonate nuclear torpedoes in the North Sea and cause a "Nuclear Tsunami" that would hit the British Isles.

Well, first I don't think the physics of it would work that way, Tsunamis are caused by undersea Earthquakes. Second; The UK is also a nuclear power. Choose your next move wisely, Comrades.

But the statement itself isn't really the point. The point is that the Russian media is giving in to its absolutely darkest impulses, and will likely drag the rest of Russia along with it.

And the whole damned reason this crazy shit is happening is because the Russians are losing in Ukraine.

And because all These Fucking People have been fed a diet of Russian-Supremacist propaganda their whole lives...they can't understand why they're losing. A hell of a lot of them can't cope, apparently. This, even though they all likely see the blatant corruption, incompetence and mass theft that's causing their army to lose every damn day, when they go to work and shit. Of course I don't doubt that a lot of them don't believe it all, either, but too many of them are cynical, and passive, because there's no concept of Truth in their society for them to even start pushing back against Power.

Thus, the Ukrainians pay the price and thousands of Ukrainians, civilians and soldiers alike, people from every walk of life; have fought back and have become martyrs in the cause of freedom.

Meanwhile, while one of our closest historical allies gets threatened with attack by Nuclear Tidal Wave, and another ally fights for its culture, people and right to exist...American "Conservatives" continue to view "Cancel Culture" as some kind of great threat. And apparently, people like Scott Adams AKA The Nazi Dilbert Guy...are determined to martyr themselves against the evils of Western Capitalism (Because what is "Cancel Culture" but a function of Capitalism?) as if they think they're Iraqi Sunni suicide bombers facing down Abrams Tanks, the Regime's Shi'a soldiers and US Marines in it dusty towns of Al-Anbar. 

Seriously, a few less people buying their crap because of their shitty behavior isn't some bad thing. 

The whole damn point of capitalism is you're supposed to be able to spend your money how and where you want. What Scott Adams and his fellow "Conservatives" are saying is they think you should have no choice but to buy their products, indeed, that the State should mandate it because something something Gazpacho.

But anyway, in honor of Scott Adams and his failed attempt at Culture War right-wing Jihadism (on Eid, no less! Although I don't think he's aware enough to note that.) the Black Standard will substitute for the daily Hammer and Sickle today.

I've been seeing this lately. Roger Stone going around claiming there's a "Satanic Portal" by the White House. As if known fraudster, scammer, scumbag and Swinger Roger Stone was some kind of paragon of Christian virtue?

It seems to be based around hate, vapid pop culture, and Whiteness...and that's about it. For a long time this bullshit had appropriated the language of Christianity...but even that seems to be falling by the wayside as these people bow down to worship their "One True God" Ayn Rand, Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Vladimir Putin.

You know, I've got people who were there...either in Germany or in Berlin itself...when the Wall came down. People celebrated that shit. It's only after a rocky transition to freedom and the gauzy, softening effect of hindsight that anybody missed Communist totalitarianism.

These motherfuckers accuse other people of being Communists while they want to build something like the Berlin Wall, but bigger.

And I get that people like Blowbert are fucking stupid racists and my ferret has a better awareness of history than they do but goddamn.

It's the East Bloc, founded by people like Mao and Stalin, that built walls and murdered millions, and American capitalism and liberal democracy that encouraged and supported the ordinary people who ultimately knocked them down.

Which is of course, exactly why people like Lauren Boebert detest it so.

A hell of a lot of these fucking brain-damaged overgrown children simply want to live in the kind of society where they get told what to do and don't have to think about anything. 

And perhaps the most important part, they want to be part of some kind of hierarchy where there are those below them that they can kick, mostly without consequence. 

They don't care about the underlying ideology. Neo-Soviet Communism works as well as any other damn thing, I guess.

These fucking people want to live in a society where people cower in fear at the sight of any old mook with a gun, and live in fear of the State because of course, they think that's ALWAYS going to be them.

Of course this is also why they want to break off a piece of America for themselves and immediately wall themselves off from demographic and social change while clutching their Bibles and guns and peering suspiciously out of the windows of their bunkers. Seriously, as much as these fucking people have trained themselves to live in fear, nothing will ever be enough to quench it. The cruelty, the fear, and the hatred...and the shitty politics that justifies it all...are the entire fucking point. 

I literally do not understand how they don't get that being "Anti-Anti-Fascist" is just a long way around to saying that they're fascists. And I likewise don't get how they don't understand that you can't go back and forth between fascist murders and happy domesticity just like that. Violence just doesn't work that way.

You'd think after all the wars this country has been through, after seeing the after-effects of everything from World War II on down to the end of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq you'd think these fucking people would understand the realities of things like addiction and mental issues and PTSD and that somebody always ends up having to support these damaged souls, in the end.

Unless you're a fucking sociopath.

And maybe it's just me, but I'll never get why These Fucking People not only want to have murderous fascism...but they want to have it for a bag of shit like Donald Trump, for vapid pop-culture bullshit and for the exact kind of white supremacist bullshit that almost always leads to more suffering and war later.

Trust me, in the history of the world, the American civil rights movement and the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa are standout exceptions. Either one could have ended in bloody, Communist -themed revolution. In fact, that's what the Soviets were hoping for and in the case of South Africa, had reached the point of specifically training people to lead a conventional military conflict.

Of course, these fucking people have willingly allied themselves with the people who are now openly beating off to the idea of nuclear war against the West, if not the end of the whole damn world...because they didn't get their idiotic fantasy of a servile Ukraine collapsing in 72 hours or some shit.

I'm really not sure if they care that it might someday all end in an orgy of blood and terror.

I'm not sure, either, what they meant by all these years of bellowing about the common man taking up arms and fighting against the invader or the oppressor when, now that so much of the population of Ukraine is doing exactly that (and succeeding admirably, against all odds!) These Fucking People (and not a few far-left "Tankies" as well) have stood up on the side of the Invader and the Oppressor and are mad because the Ukrainians are doing exactly what they say they would love to do themselves.

Or worse, people think "Peace" means preemptive capitulation in the face of evil.

Even a "Man Of Peace" like Noam Chomsky...or a gay far-leftist like Glenn Greenwald who fled America for Brazil back in the aughts because America (And Russia right now makes America in 2004 look like Pride Day in Amsterdam!) was too anti-gay...gets sucked into this bullshit.

I think a lot of these fucking people want America, the EU, NATO and the West in general to lose, because something something fascism, or some kind of flaky neo-Communist fantasy. Well, if all that is so great, why are so many people...not least many of the Oligarchs who caused this shit...fleeing Russia for the West or places like Dubai?? Why are there tens of thousands of Russians in Istanbul? 

And why the fuck can't you fuckers see that nobody wants your bigoted extremism, your cowering, fawning submission to dictators, or your racist, vapid whiteness except you?
