Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it, and then hand it to them with the well fought lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same. And if you and I don't do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it once was like in America when men were free. ~Ronald Reagan...
The Holy Quran says it, "Pilgrimage to the House [of God built by the prophet Abraham] is a duty men owe to God; those who are able, make the journey." (3:97) Allah said: "And proclaim the pilgrimage among men; they will come to you on foot and upon each lean camel, they will come from every deep ravine" (22:27). Every one of the thousands at the airport, about to leave for Jeddah, was dressed this way. You could be a king or a peasant and no one would know. Some powerful personages, who were discreetly pointed out to me, had on the same thing I had on. Once thus dressed, we all had begun intermittently calling out "Labbayka! (Allahumma) Labbayka!" (Here I come, O Lord!) Packed in the plane were white, black, brown, red, and yellow people, blue eyes and blond hair, and my kinky red hair -- all together, brothers! All honoring the same God, all in turn giving equal honor to each other. . . .That is when I first began to reappraise the "white man." It was when I first began to perceive that "white man," as commonly used, means complexion only secondarily; primarily it described attitudes and actions. In America, "white man" meant specific attitudes and actions toward the black man, and toward all other non-white men. But in the Muslim world, I had seen that men with white complexions were more genuinely brotherly than anyone else had ever been. That morning was the start of a radical alteration in my whole outlook about "white" men. ~Malcolm X.
I saw this earlier today.
Some Christian Nationalist Ass-Clowns I've never heard of saying that the government should "Ban Islam" because something something Gazpacho "Cultural Jihad."
Homie, nobody is waging a "Cultural Jihad" except these motherfuckers, and they suck at it.
And they know they suck at it, and they think the fix is somehow getting enough political power that they can compel their bullshit anyway, like they've never heard of the United States Constitution or Human Rights, let alone American culture as it's ever existed.
I mean, the truth is they reject all those things out of hand, they know the vast majority of people would never stand for their bullshit, and they hate that.
So, their backup plan is to accrue enough violent religious fanatics to kill enough people to get them a bigger share of the population that way, or maybe force compliance in some way.
Except that's not working either because outside of These Fucking People's upper classes, you don't really have enough religious fanatics that are also sociopaths, and most of these soft-handed bitch-ass internet preachers sure ain't got the guts to try it themselves.
So now they want to blame Islam and try to project their own sins onto somebody else.
We've got to take the neighborhood back. We've got to go in there. Just forget telling your child to go to the Peace Corps. It's right around the corner. It's standing on the corner. It can't speak English. It doesn't want to speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk. "Why you ain't where you is go." I don't know who these people are. And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. Then I heard the father talk. This is all in the house. You used to talk a certain way on the corner and you got into the house and switched to English. Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't land a plane with "why you ain't…". You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. There is no Bible that has that kind of language. Where did these people get the idea that they're moving ahead on this? Well, they know they're not, they're just hanging out in the same place, five or six generations sitting in the projects when you're just supposed to stay there long enough to get a job and move out. ~Bill Cosby, the "Pound Cake" speech.
But more than that, then we'd
know.
And that would probably end badly for them.
We'd know for sure that whatever these fucking people's Blood God is, it ain't Jesus.
My theory for several years now has been that these guys have been worshiping Demons all along.
Blood, blood for the blood god! Skulls, skulls for the skull throne! ~Chaos Space Marine battle cry, Warhammer 40K.
And whatever Lord Of The Pit these idiots serve probably isn't very good at his job either. Sure doesn't seem to be helping them much.
And that's generously assuming they're not serving some Golden Idol that can neither see nor hear nor walk, or of course, trying to serve Trump as if he was some sort of a "god."
[Xerxes has advanced to meet Leonidas, seated on a solid gold throne carried on the backs of many slaves.]
- Leonidas: Let me guess... you must be... Xerxes?
- Xerxes: Come, Leonidas. Let us reason together. It would be a regrettable waste, it would be nothing short of madness, were you, brave King, and your valiant troops to perish... all because of a simple misunderstanding. There is much our cultures could share.
- Leonidas: Oh, haven't you noticed? We've been sharing our culture with you all morning.
- Xerxes: Yours is a fascinating tribe. Even now, you are defiant, in the face of annihilation and the presence of a god. It isn't wise to stand against me, Leonidas. Imagine what horrible fate awaits my enemies when I would gladly kill any of my own men for victory.
- Leonidas: And I would die for any one of mine.
- Xerxes: You Greeks take pride in your logic. I suggest you employ it. Consider the beautiful land you so vigorously defend. Picture it reduced to ash at my whim! Consider the fate of your women!
- Leonidas: Clearly you don't know our women. I might as well have marched them up here, judging by what I've seen. You have many slaves, Xerxes, but few warriors. It won't be long before they fear my spears more than your whips.
- Xerxes: It is not the lash they fear, it is my divine power. But I am a generous god. I can make you rich beyond all measure. I will make you warlord of all Greece. You will carry my battle standard to the heart of Europa. Your Athenian rivals will kneel at your feet... if you will but kneel at mine.
- Leonidas: You are generous as you are divine, O King of Kings. Such an offer only a madman would refuse. But the, uh, the idea of kneeling, it's... You see, slaughtering all those men of yours has, uh, well, it's left a nasty cramp in my leg, so kneeling will be hard for me.
- Xerxes: [incensed at what Leonidas just said] There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories. Every piece of Greek parchment shall be burned, and every Greek historian and every scribe shall have their eyes put out and their tongues cut from their mouths! Why, uttering the very name of Sparta or Leonidas will be punishable by death! The world will never know you existed at all!
- Leonidas: The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many and, before this battle is over, that even a god-king can bleed.
- ~From the film 300.
The trouble with that kind of "divine" power is that
everybody has to agree someone has it. Only one person has to say "No."
And 70% of America is saying NO!
They've figured out they can't make us, and they're panicking and retreating into a virtual world of AI bullshit, which is probably what this picture is, but who knows?? The trouble is I know people who think "Trump is god" in real life. I worked directly with people who thought stupid shit like this. Most of them are "Anti-Liberal" not actually conservative. Most of 'em couldn't tell you what "Things as they are" meant.
Or name a single "Tradition" that wasn't simple-ass bigotry.
And not a damn one of 'em, when called on it, can tell you why they think that. Or maybe they just don't want to.
And Micah Beckwith aside, the vast majority of these folks that I've ever met in the wild aren't all that religious.
And whether it's Alex McFarland, Micah Beckwith or Jim from Custodial, it doesn't matter, fundamentally it's the same motivations they're trying to hide whether it's Trump personally or the Republican Party that they claim as their "god." It's nearly always bigotry, greed and shitty behavior that are their primary motivations in the real world.
If we've learned anything in the last decade it's that, functionally, the number of people in America that are
actually conservative by nature and in terms of their actual morality is pretty small, and most of them aren't or at least didn't stay MAGA or Republican.
(Many of them are Democrats now, which is a whole different problem, but first we've got to get rid of the Christian Nationalists and the Fascists, then we can deal with that.)
And I draw a line there because while MAGA initially ate the Republican Party, all it did was swallow a lot of shitty Republicans without digesting them, who then pretty much ate MAGA from the inside out.
That's right; Republicans are the damn problem here. That's where Project 2025 and shit came from, not from MAGA populism, from institutional Republicans. Or, from what's left of them.
It's like I keep saying, I've got a partner and a kid to think about, I can't afford to put up with this bullshit.
And again, what if God doesn't want this crap either?? These idiots never stop to think about that!
You either believe in freedom or you don't.
And either you're willing to fight for it, or you're not.
Слава Україна!
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. ~Ezekiel 16:49-50 (NIV)
We bow our heads in worship on this day and give thanks to the Almighty for the bounty He has bestowed upon us over the past year. We raise our voices in holy gladness to celebrate the victory of the risen Christ over the terrible forces of death. Easter is a joyful festival! It is a celebration because it is indeed a festival of hope! Easter marks the renewal of life! The triumph of the light of truth over the darkness of falsehood! Easter is a festival of human solidarity, because it celebrates the fulfilment of the Good News! The Good News borne by our risen Messiah who chose not one race, who chose not one country, who chose not one language, who chose not one tribe, who chose all of humankind! Each Easter marks the rebirth of our faith. It marks the victory of our risen Saviour over the torture of the cross and the grave. Our Messiah, who came to us in the form of a mortal man, but who by his suffering and crucifixion attained immortality. Our Messiah, born like an outcast in a stable, and executed like criminal on the cross. Our Messiah, whose life bears testimony to the truth that there is no shame in poverty: Those who should be ashamed are they who impoverish others. Whose life testifies to the truth that there is no shame in being persecuted: Those who should be ashamed are they who persecute others. Whose life proclaims the truth that there is no shame in being conquered: Those who should be ashamed are they who conquer others. Whose life testifies to the truth that there is no shame in being dispossessed: Those who should be ashamed are they who dispossess others. Whose life testifies to the truth that there is no shame in being oppressed: Those who should be ashamed are they who oppress others. ~Nelson Mandela, Speech at the Zion Christian Church Easter conference, Moria, South Africa, 1994.
If God had a name, what would it be?
And would you call it to His face
If you were faced with Him in all His glory?
What would you ask if you had just one question?
And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryna make His way home?
~Joan Osborne "What If God Was One Of Us?"
