Respect for the God-given dignity of every human being, no matter their race, ethnicity or other circumstances of their birth, is the essence of American patriotism. To believe otherwise is to oppose the very idea of America. ~John McCain

This is America: the Knights of Columbus, the Grange, Hadassah, the Disabled American Veterans, the Order of Ahepa, the Business and Professional Women of America, the union hall, the Bible study group, LULAC, "Holy Name"—a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky... ~George Herbert Walker Bush, 41st President of the United States.
Lindsey Graham died last night. Fuck him.I don't give a damn and I'm not going to be nice about it, fuck that guy.
When Lindsey Graham was first elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1992, the United States House of Representatives in 1995 or to the United States Senate, the Republican Party was a whole different animal. Hell, Graham himself was apparently a different fucking person. He was once known for his friendships with other politicians both in his own party and across the aisle; Joe Biden, Joe Lieberman, John McCain, a few others come to mind but not immediate recollection and I don't feel like looking it up.
Sooner or later, Lady G betrayed every last one of them, and everything he ever claimed to believe...for Donald Trump.
I have nothing good to say about the man and I'm not going to pretend to just because he's dead.
He's dead, good.
Bye, Whore.
I hate to tell you this but when I was a damn Republican they were a lot closer to current Democrats than...whatever the fuck this shit is, and hell, back in them days a lot of Democrats were actually liberals and not just weak-ass Republican enablers.
And I've eulogized plenty of Republicans on here in a positive way. Lindsey Graham will not be one of those. He decided he'd rather be Trump's catamite than screw his courage to the sticking place and be a man.
The hell with that.
We gather to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice, those that live lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served. He was a great fire who burned bright. In the past few days, my family and I have heard from so many of those Americans who stood in the warmth and light of his fire and found it illuminated what's best about them. We are grateful to them because they're grateful to him. A few have resented that fire for the light it cast upon them for the truth it revealed about their character, but my father never cared what they thought and even that small number still have the opportunity as long as they draw breath to live up to the example of John McCain.
The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because America was always great. ~Meghan McCain

In fact, I Deliberately chose all the pull-quotes save the first from those posts for this one, so far.
I'll do that much honor to what I was taught and to the first part of my political life and awareness.
But that Republican Party is not today's Republican Party which fawns over a disintegrating wannabe-dictator every damn day while the VP goes about, talking for all the world like a redneck version of Puyi, the last Emperor of China, who spent most of his life as a debased, spoiled brat and eventual pervert until he was "reeducated" by Chinese and Soviet Communists. Might be the one decent thing they ever did.
But in looking that history up during my breaks at work, I couldn't help but see a lot of parallels between the fall of the original Chinese empire and the more unofficial American one.
Like I've freaking said, the debasement of the average American White Man shocks the hell out of me.
That's the biggest part of the comparison, that right there, the utter debasement of people who should know better.
Republicans are selling their soul to win elections. Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. The government won't work without it. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them. ~Barry Goldwater
And guys like Lindsey were balls-deep in creating the current mess, and did it enthusiastically, for no better reason than they thought they would get ahead if they did.
Lindsey Graham was a United States Air Force officer, a Judge Advocate General in the South Carolina Air National Guard and then the Air Force Reserve. I'm an Air Force security forces veteran. I know a little bit of what that entails, oh yes, I do. Lindsey Graham was not really That Guy.

I wrote about that once, too.
They were, in fact, wrong about getting ahead too. As much as anything, because Trump is a better betrayer than these guys ever thought they were. Motherfuckers should have known better than this, turns out they didn't.
Some people will say that words like scum and rotten are wrong for Objective Journalism — which is true, but they miss the point. It was the built-in blind spots of the Objective rules and dogma that allowed Nixon to slither into the White House in the first place. He looked so good on paper that you could almost vote for him sight unseen. He seemed so all-American, so much like Horatio Alger, that he was able to slip through the cracks of Objective Journalism. You had to get Subjective to see Nixon clearly, and the shock of recognition was often painful. ~Hunter S. Thompson, "He Was A Crook" published June 16th, 1994 in Rolling Stone magazine.
And I'm here to tell you all the fuck-ass Republican enablers and second-rate Republican losing candidates stocking Trump's current administration are gonna find this out the hard way, too.
Just as the actions of These Fucking People and the natural revulsion of global public opinion toward that have stripped America of its previous place in the world, so too will the Republican Party get destroyed...and deserve it.
My only regret on that is that Lindsey Graham didn't live to see it.
I have no sympathy for the Devil in this matter.
You either believe in freedom or you don't.
America is changing, in some ways for the better, and it sucks that all these hateful old men think they have a right to stand in everyone's way.
They do not.
Remember this.
Слава Україна!
Our nation is founded on the principle that we do not have kings. We have presidents. And the Constitution is our compass. When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something. Our children and their children will ask us, ‘What did you do? What did you say?' For some, he concluded, this vote may be hard. But we have a mission and a mandate to be on the right side of history. ~John Lewis
- And so tomorrow, as we take the campaign South and West, as we learn that the struggles of the textile workers in Spartanburg are not so different than the plight of the dishwasher in Las Vegas; that the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of L.A.; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people, we are one nation. And, together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story, with three words that will ring from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea: Yes, we can. ~Barack Obama
