I saw this yesterday.
Mike Pence wants to retaliate for mass shootings by...expediting the executions of mass shooters. Mass shooters whose usual objective is either to go out in a blaze of glory or to commit suicide.
That is, after they kill enough people. Yes, you heard me. I'm not kidding. Mike Pence thinks killing one more will somehow turn the trick and change something.
I mean...what the fuck??
First, whatever happened to "Thou Shalt Not kill" and why is this so hard for these fucking people?? Also, I can damned near still hear my Grandma's voice in my ear telling me that "Two wrongs don't make a right."
Second, I'm not particularly pro-death penalty but nor am I totally 100% against it, I do believe that it should be very hard for the State to kill people and that very much is a remnant of conservative belief that there need to be checks on the Power of the State.Tell me something. Do you trust Donald Trump with...well....anything?? Yeah, that's what I thought.
That check, is supposed to be us, The People.
And I frankly don't trust these fucking people with any abridgment of Death Penalty processes, for any reason.
I'm by nature extremely skeptical of this new brand of "Unlimited Government Conservatives" and "State Power Republicans" simply because that's not what I was taught those words even mean.You notice you hardly ever hear anything about RFK Jr. anymore?
I think that's because somebody figured out far more Republicans than Democrats would be likely to vote for him.
And he was supposed to pull voters away from Democrats, not from Trump.
It's hard to maintain a convincing Putinist "Managed Democracy" when The Leader is a narcissistic egomaniac who simply doesn't even want to understand why anybody else should get any votes at all.
And the issue is that Trump is dragging Republicans into this bullshit right along with himself, simply because none of them have the guts to stand up to him.The Republican Party itself is already a Putinist Neo-Commie dictatorship, working towards being a Right-Wing North Korea type totalitarian Dystopia...for no better reason than any Republican who had the guts or the political power to do something about this mess already died off, got shitcanned out of the Party or tried and failed and is retiring.
They just don't actually have a nation of their own to rule over yet.

Let Republicans have a crack at Nationhood on their own, and they'll do worse...and don't get me wrong, I don't think there's any way these fucking people would get all of America...but I sure don't see anybody trying to both reign in Republican bullshit and keep the country together.
Republicans...particularly the radicals running the House Republicans...are making it damned near impossible to run a country right now...as it looks like we're into a Government Shutdown now.And these idiots who can't even agree with each other and who want to dethrone their own pet Speaker of the House for not being pet enough...are goat-eager to fight a civil war against the rest of us.
I think their strategy and/or the inevitable result is that they will lose it, but I think their goal is to get what they want via a forced-negotiated settlement and international "Sympathy" from the Authoritarianism, Inc. nations. But here's the thing...they just might get away with it.
Let me give you an example; The internationally-unrecognized Republic of Artsakh...an ethnic Armenian enclave in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan...fell to the Azerbaijani Army last week after a long blockade of the region. 100,000 people (80% of the unrecognized state's population, thus far) have fled the country, with more certainly to follow.
And despite the involvement of the US Government in providing aid to the refugees and the fact that this whole mess is drawing Armenia away from Russia and closer to the EU, NATO and the USA...which I have seen something about that, just lacking an explanation as to why...I've seen all of two articles about it in Western media, both via Threads.To put this into a "Conservative" framework like you'd see on FOX News...a Christian country just fell to an enemy nation that's basically a combination of Communist leftovers and Radical Islam and no one cared. And this happened with the full connivance and support of Turkey, a major US ally.
Think about that, take all the time you need.
The precedent has been set, somebody's getting away with this shit in the modern world.

I'm not sure if American media just doesn't care or if knowledge of this situation is being quietly suppressed...but if it's simply that there's a major ethnic cleansing going on and nobody noticed, that doesn't say good things about us in general all by itself.
