- Joe: Yeah. Hadn't thought of that.
- Rita: Now you know why he built that bomb.

- The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain. Where, then, is the road to peace? Well, it's a simple answer after all. You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." There is a point beyond which they must not advance. This is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength." Winston Churchill said that "the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits — not animals." And he said, "There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty. ~Ronald Reagan
- Tennessee's state government has some bullshit thing going where they're going to try to claim June is "Nuclear Family Month."
- Full disclosure here: I've always been rather suspicious of terms like "Nuclear Family" and anybody outside of, say, the mental health or social welfare professions that uses terms like that, especially to try to make some kind of bigoted or bullshit political point.
- And that's before you get to the homophobic gist of the whole fucking thing.
- Likewise, my partner, the kid and I will very likely never fit that "Nuclear Family" ideal and we don't care if we do or not. They're both LGBT which means we already run afoul of "Conservatives" trying to define us out of existence anyway. We're both pretty much too old to have more kids and in certain ways we've acted accordingly...without consequence thus far which kind of proves the point.
- You can take a lot of things away from a man. Cigarettes, the gym. You can take his freedom, his legs, but not his feelings. Not his feelings. A man loves a woman. Don't matter what kind of man he is, if he loves her, he wants her. He wants her body. He wants her to want his. So you say to him, "you can never make love again. You will never touch her in that way again. This is the last time. The last time. Forever." If that's not cruel and unusual punishment, I don't know what is. ~Augustus Hill, from the HBO series Oz, S1.E2 "Visits, Conjugal and otherwise."
- To me "Nuclear Family" is just some bullshit words that don't go together.
- Maybe it's just the wording and the fact that I'm Gen-X and a child of one of the tenser parts of the Cold War.
- But then again, Republicans just got caught bemoaning a drop in teenage pregnancies which somebody that I know commented was because they like the idea of human puppy-mills to support endless war and slave labor. So that kind of throws such terminology into a different light, doesn't it??
- At least some of these motherfuckers clearly like the idea of war for its own sake, in fact, if people like Keg-Breath and all these idiots that keep turning up for "Worship Services" at the Pentagon are to be believed, they seem to think war is more "Christian" than peace.
- Which is utter nonsense if you've ever read the Bible, particularly anything that Jesus of Nazareth was ever alleged to have actually said.
- When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. ~Matthew 25:31-45
- But then these same fucking people seem to think the Epstein-cult sex-slave forced to do stuff that no person should be, fits their ideal of "Christian" more than the church-camp teenagers who are dry-humping because they actually like each other and want to.
- For These Fucking People, the ultimate logic of the "Nuclear Family" ends in a Mushroom Cloud so they can sell bomb shelters to scared dipshits, Ass Jerky ain't gonna make itself, Vaultie.
- It's not about Christianity, conservatism, or least of all families. Hell, there's very few conservative families I can think of that follow the old-school "Nuclear Family" model and have been able to keep it up or allowed to flourish enough to do so comfortably or that have been lucky enough to be blessed with faithful men who didn't have some kind of abusive tendencies or weird issues going on.
- This shit is about Hierarchy and Power and more to the point, endless confusing hierarchies of power that Republicans can game to their own profits and heart's content. Throw in abuse scandals on the regular and war for ideology and profit as a side-hustle.
- And they think nobody should discuss this, or even acknowledge abuse, and that anybody who does is somehow trying to get something.
- (As if they're not trying to get something, by doing like, pretty much everything that they do?)
- They wanna push this one family ideal simply because it generates more bodies to throw at the problems their own selfish model of life creates. They only see people as something to profit from, unless it's them and then they demand full human consideration.
- And then the Republican attitude towards everybody else is "Fuck You, I got mine."
- I don't know why anybody else keeps putting up with this crap.
- You either believe in freedom or you don't.
- And you're either willing to fight for it or you're not.
- Слава Україна!
- And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
And he doeth great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
And deceive them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. ~Revelation 13, King James Bible.
