Wise And Foolish Virgins (Scenes From A Cold Civil War, Epstein List Edition.)

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. ~Matthew 25:1-13

...

The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain. Where, then, is the road to peace? Well, it's a simple answer after all. You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." There is a point beyond which they must not advance. This is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength." Winston Churchill said that "the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits — not animals." And he said, "There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty. ~Ronald Reagan

I saw this the other day.

Just Matt Gaetz, former Florida District 1 (Republican) Congressman trying to say that sexual deviancy like a preference for teenage girls is "Normal."

No, it's fucking not.

I haven't been attracted to teenagers since I freaking was one myself.

And I was never allowed to treat women and girls as just objects.

Cuz ya know, certain things are just wrong.

And I'm tired of people making excuses for this crap and every other damn thing, effectively trying to say well Trump did it why shouldn't they???

Sorry, but a lot of These Fucking People never grew up.

And because they're rich white Republicans, too much of America tolerates this fucking bullshit.

Yeah, okay, this is about the Epstein List, but at the same time it really isn't...or at least not just about that.

It's about "You get what you tolerate." That's a lesson I learned in the military.

Sorry, but either Truth exists or it doesn't.

Truth is the only thing that gives anybody a floor to stand on to push back against Power.

You either have internal morality of some kind of you don't.

This isn't really about legal codes, politics, religious beliefs or anything like that. It's not about "Conservative" vs. "Liberal" it's about Right vs. Wrong. It's about what's real and what's not.

It's about can you, as a person, make the kind of adult decisions that are necessary to live in a democracy and a civilization? I mean fundamentally it's about do you meet the threshold for being an individual, a person, in your own goddamned mind, or are you just a bundle of urges that happens to live here or maybe get elected to office or some bullshit??

It's about can you look yourself in the face in your bathroom mirror when you're brushing your teeth in the morning?

If not, why not, and why would you wanna live like that??

And it's simply about do you give enough of a damn about other people to function as a human being, or do you simply see others as things to exploit, to sate your own desires??

These are questions that people in general...and conservatives in particular, believe it or not, used to ask.

Like what's even the damned point, if there's no higher thought process??

We're either spirits, not animals, as Ronald Reagan once said...or the reverse is true and we are naught but brute beasts and I guess if you wanna live like that, good luck, I guess??

Part of what's going on here, in my opinion, is that America has become a victim of its own success and fried its own brains on boredom, cynicism and debasement. That's poison to public life.

Lots of people don't want to have an adult mentality, because among other things they've never had to before. For dudes like Matt Gaetz it's much simpler to think only about the next time they get to blow their load or get high.

And no, they don't give a fuck about you.

Trump doesn't either.

Do Not forget this.

Because trust me, These Fucking People won't ever forget that. In fact, reacting to life with nothing but an upraised middle finger is all they give a damn about.

What this is about, fundamentally, is did you as a freaking person have the oil to light your lamp??

Or were you counting on somebody else to do it for you??

Whatever else He was, Jesus knew about human nature, about our fallen state of Sin and about how to overcome it.

I mean, for fuck's sake I'm 51 years old and all the sudden I have to think about having a family now.

And the reason that happened is that 20 years ago, my current partner was my coworker and she needed a place to stay. I simply treated her properly and didn't take advantage, because that's what you do when you're a grown-ass man.

We know now that we loved each other even then, but when she was 21 and I was 31 it would have been weird so neither one of us acted on it...because we were both taught that old-school mentality.

I wasn't going to take advantage of somebody just 'cause they had less than I did and needed a place to live.

We did date later, after she moved out...but she was going through a Christian phase at the time and I sure wasn't, but I respected that...because it's what you do.

And now 20 years later, we're making life plans because we reconnected by chance.

Because she knows she can trust me. Hell, because her kid trusts me.

Might not have that now if I'd acted on my baser urges 19 years ago, or if she had.

Just sayin.'

You know, honestly, and this is a lesson that I've had reinforced many times throughout life, I think the goddamned problem is we're in this mess because too many people simply want what they want and they want it now and they don't want to take the time to do things the right way or treat people right

But if you do things the way they're supposed to be done, whatever you're trying to do usually works, the effects stay long after you leave, etc.

Like way back in about 2011 or so, I was driving into work with my buddy and as we were pulling into the parking lot at the casin he said to me that he'd noticed I didn't take the Lord's name in vain as much as I had before.

He didn't tell me not to do this, he simply did not do it himself, he showed the way by example and I followed without even realizing it.

All these years later, in day to day life, I still don't use those kind of words as much as I once did.

I've thought about that many times.

When Trump is gone, Trumpism will go with him.

Trump isn't trying to model any actual behavior or persuade anybody. Trump and his followers are simply trying to punish everybody else for not being them.

It's not morality, it's narcissism.

And when it all comes crashing down, no one will care. Hell, only fools care now.

The day will come when everyone will always have been against all of this crap. Personally, I think that day is coming soon. This crisis simply isn't the sort of thing that gets solved by an election.

And when matters come to a head, these fucking people will crumble.

And then, where will you stand??

Thinking it will never happen to you, that you will never fall, isn't a plan.

You either believe in freedom or you don't.

You're either willing to fight for it or you're not.

And the test is coming, soon.

Decide.

Слава Україна!

Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
~Daniel 3:14-18

Five

Hess: So what shall we toast to, boys? I can blather on about “To health” or “To success,” but I’d like to do somethin’ a little less rote. Where you from, Brown Eyes?

Migs Mayfield: How ’bout a toast to Operation Cinder?

Hess: Now there’s a man who knows his history.

Mayfield: No, I don’t just know it. I lived it. I was in Burnin Konn.

Hess: Burnin Konn?

Mayfield: Mmm.

Hess: That was a hard day. I had to make many unpleasant decisions.

Mayfield: Yes, you did. Entire city gone in moments, along with everybody in it. We lost our whole division that day. Man, that was like 5-10,000 people.

Hess: Yep. All heroes of the Empire.

Mayfield: Yeah. And all dead.

Hess: Well, it’s a small sacrifice for the greater good, son.

Mayfield: Depends on who you ask, don’t you think?

Hess: [irritated] What you gettin’ at, trooper?

Mayfield: All those people, the ones who died, was it good for them? Hmm? Their families? The guys I served with? Civilians, those poor mud scuffers, died defending their homes, fighting for freedom. Was it good for them?

Hess: But we’ve outlasted them, son. They’re eating themselves alive. The New Republic is in complete disarray, and we grow stronger. You see, with the rhydonium you’ve delivered, we can create havoc that’s gonna make Burnin Konn pale by comparison. And then they’re gonna turn to us once again. You see, boys, everybody thinks they want freedom, but what they really want is order. And when they realize that, they’re gonna welcome us back with open arms. Ah. To the Empire.

[Mayfield chuckles, then fires a blaster at Hess' chest, killing him instantly. He and Mando then shoot their way out of the mess hall] ~From The Mandalorian, Season 2, Ep. 7 "The Believer"
