Jesse Watters wants to "Quench his Imperialist thirst" on Canada...forgetting that, unlike us, Canada is still a literal part of a literal empire (and a Constitutional Monarchy) with which we had this argument a couple of times. The second such occasion worked out rather badly, especially for the Washington DC elites. Also, we tried to go north in both of those wars and lost rather badly at it.
Somebody needs to explain to these fucking people how this shit usually works out. Just the fact that some of us are talking like this pisses off the rest of the world and sooner or later they're going to start taking us seriously, we're going to find others arrayed against us, and lose our spot and that sweet, sweet Superpower status and if it gets bad enough...we don't make all that much here, anymore, except higher-tech finished products. The rest of the world can just sit back and watch as America falls apart while a couple of these assholes sit there scratching their heads trying to figure out how we can manufacture enough coffee and toilet paper to fill our own needs.

In 1867 under Andrew Johnson (a Republican, mind you) Secretary of State William Seward negotiated the purchase of Alaska from Russia. Lots of Americans were opposed to this, considering the land to be useless, and it was widely referred to as "Seward's Folly" or "Seward's Icebox." For the record, I first learned this in like, the 2nd Grade or so. It's basic knowledge according to how I was taught.
