Republicans Are Basically Communists Now.

I said it in 2015, when Trump first started talking about building a wall and turning America into East Germany. Dude literally started off his campaign by throwing Ronald Reagan under the bus...and Republicans cheered as the Gipper was flattened under the tires!

Republicans are basically Communists now, just without any of the stuff that benefits the average person.

It's actually most effectively Communism-in-reverse.

Unlimited Socialism for the rich, unlimited middle fingers for the rest of us!

Somehow these fucking people manage to combine the worst traits of both the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat, though. I'm willing to bet Marx never considered that a possibility.

Ya know, I think Trump may have just guaranteed that he does get impeached.

Trump throws absolutely everybody under the bus, eventually. But there's one person I thought he just wouldn't dare:

Richard Milhous Nixon.

You know, like Spock said in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country regarding Kirk being point man for diplomacy with the Klingons: "Only Nixon could go to China."

Now, a little history;

By opening diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, by creating the possibility of Capitalism...which truly began in the late 1970's with the privatization of farmlands and agricultural reforms...Nixon did more than anybody in the long run, to undermine Chinese Communism.

Which Trump just enthusiastically affirmed on Twitter, as of this morning.

Even as protesters in Hong Kong square off with riot police yet again.

Even as the repression of ethnic and religious minorities in Communist China continues.

Part of me wonders if the preserved head of Richard Nixon is in a jar of formaldehyde and electrodes, somewhere in the deepest sub-levels of Fox News, raging at the TV.

I want you to think about this for a second, Republicans.

Every Republican President throughout the Cold War took a hard line against Communism. Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford...even, if not especially Reagan and George H.W. Bush backed up their sincere efforts towards peace and nuclear disarmament with the threat of massive precision conventional force backed by formidable upgrades to American strategic forces, that the Soviets simply couldn't match with the technology they had available.

So we got them to spend themselves into the ground. The Chinese won't have that problem, as American capitalism (with enthusiastic Republican support!) has effectively outsourced so much of our industrial base to them that the financial position of Chinese Communism vs. that of American Capitalism is one of greater strength at this point.

But it took 30 years or so, for them to get us there.

And not once, throughout that time, or throughout the Cold War, did any of those Republicans ever think to congratulate a Communist leader or Communist country simply for existing. For fuck's sake the People's Republic of China itself spent its first four decades being considered a threat...without a single Presidential social media congratulations so far as I know.

What the fuck is wrong with these Republicans now?

And in the generation or two that it will take us to recover from this Trump bullshit, the Chinese will not be idle. When...if...we regain our strength and standing, we're going to be in a more Soviet-like position in this new Cold War. They will be to Africa what we were to the Commonwealth countries, western Europe, South Korea and Japan during the Cold War. For civilian purposes, for financial and governmental networking and even yes, military training and supplies, they already are there.

By the time we start to catch up again the Chinese will have things like naval bases on the South Atlantic coast of Namibia, and NATO-grade military infrastructure from the Botswana and South African borders all the way up to the southern edge of the Sahara Desert.

Much of it financed by taxation on corporations producing cheap goods for the American consumer, or their workers.

Think about that for a second.

So in a way, and for all the wrong reasons, it's fitting that Republicans resort to Soviet style propaganda and threats and even...given Trump's shitty farm bailouts...Soviet economic measures while they butter up Putin and Kim Jong Un and Xi.

Because as I've been saying for the last four years, Republicans are basically Communists now.

Just without anything that helps you.

And that's why We the People have got to take back our country, and yes, be better citizens when we do so.

There can be no "If" here. We have to do this.

Remember that.
