Today's White Christian Nationalist Republican Party is virtually indistinguishable from the far-right of the 1950's and early 1960's. People like the Dixiecrats, the cranks and crypto-cultists of the John Birch Society, and the McCarthyites, all of which Eisenhower (and most Republicans at the time) opposed.

For the record, these nuts didn't force their way in and take over. Oh hell no! Republicans let that shit in, courted it over decades for more votes, and when they got those votes, gave it more and more power within the Party and then were surprised when those fucking people took over and the Party almost instantly became dominated by conspiracy theorists and racists.

All it took for that shit to take over completely was a Black man running for President. Not even getting elected yet, just being a major party's candidate. I was there. It wasn't John McCain driving this bullshit, it was the Republican Base.

In 2008 Republicans finally got the voters they'd wanted since LBJ buried Goldwater with a simple ad featuring a little girl and a missile-launch countdown and on the strength of "In Your Guts, You Know He's Nuts."

Fuck, whoever came up with that line understated the problem by an order of magnitude. 

Hell, people I knew went off the rails to the point where I wondered if I'd ever really known them, and did it so fast that it boggled my mind.

And now these same motherfuckers are trying to call the American government "Antichrist?"

Excuse me? I was an End Times Prophecy guy. America and anything about America ain't in the Word. The locus of the End Times, the point around which the whole wheel turns is the Middle East (and Israel and its environs) for a damn reason. 

It's as simple as the fact that the Americas were unknown to the people who wrote this stuff down.

If anybody's "Antichrist" it's the global authoritarian, fascist movement...which mostly answers to or is supported by Vladimir Putin and that is something right out of the traditional End Times narratives...the same "Gog and Magog" that Pastors like Greg Laurie see in the Russia vs. Ukraine War. 

And I sure don't see these fucking people embracing the Anti-Netanyahu protesters.

Most of them are all in for Bibi. Funny how that works, isn't it?

They don't even care what a given authoritarian believes in or represents, because it's the authoritarianism in and of itself that's the drug for these fucking people.

Also, it's a virtual guarantee that these assholes will do a 180 and embrace the Ukrainians if they can bend that situation to their advantage or push it into whatever their "End Times" lies are now.

Remember, everything is bad faith with these motherfuckers. And I do mean Everything. They will, likewise, throw Russia under the bus or relegate them to a bit part if something "better" for their ambitions (Or more fitting of their biases) turns up.

I saw this crap over the weekend.

There's a certain percentage of White "Conservatives" who are perpetually walking around with a giant hard-on at the idea of a second US Civil War, because "The Left" or something. 

Or, because there's cultural and social change going on that they disapprove of, or because their shitty beliefs and ideas are unpopular, or because nobody but them likes Donald Fucking Trump.

Because honestly, the entire basis for their beliefs is nothing but hate and petty resentments, and I don't know how these ass clowns think they'd have the philosophy for any kind of coherent polity based on that.

But mostly because these motherfucking bullies, clowns and morons haven't the slightest idea what a war entails. I don't think they'd be so keen on it once the "Left" shot back, Much less once the cops, the military and various government agencies started returning fire.

Which is exactly what will happen, and very quickly, because the rest of the world is a lot more than the little right-wing bubbles these fuckers encase themselves in. Not to mention, it isn't enough for these people if one is merely conservative. If you're not a fascist...and increasingly even if you're "Fascist but not insane" they'll just shoot you too.

I'm sorry, but for all their talk about "Manichean battles between good and evil" and all their lust for petty cruelties, I do not think the vast majority of these fucking people are prepared for coping with the fact that the people right next to them got blown into so much chunky spaghetti and they only lived by some random chance.  

Seriously though, if I had to guess I'd say a majority of these dudes would surrender like five minutes after their cable and internet gets knocked out by some explosion at some IT node in another state. 

Why? 

Because they'd be instantly lost and wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do without the constant Fox News stream-of-hate and they'd already miss their access to Pornhub and the knockoff Viagra they order online from Mexico.

Full disclosure, I hate Tucker Carlson. 

Not because he's a Republican or even far-right, but because his smarmy, smirking, snidely-whiplash affect makes me want to punch people. I've been a lot of places where somebody who acted like that would get beat up. Hell, I was taught not to tolerate people who had that kind of attitude, and had the beginnings of it beat right out of me. 

Tucker is basically that 13-year-old boy who never got his ass whupped, and who was allowed to dry-hump the neighbor girl until he developed a real high opinion of himself  and his own manhood way too young, without doing anything to deserve it and then nobody ever told him he wasn't all that.

Why else would he be obsessed with dicks?

I didn't like him when he was on CNN or MSNBC either. It's always blown my mind that "Conservatives" fell so hard for his shit. I never understood it before.

Let alone why they all upset now.

Or like the Russians thinking they'd conquer Ukraine in three days and the world would just stand by and ignore that, or what they were planning on doing after, and just let them march into the next country, too.

I swear these fucking idiots think somebody somewhere, besides them, misses the Segregated South (or insert other period of injustice at the hands of White colonialist or imperialist haters here) or some shit.

(They cite the occasional chucklefuck right-wing Black person or closeted far-right LGBT person-who's usually either not all there, just grifting off them in the first place, or both-as "evidence" of this theory, apparently.)

And somehow the American version of this crap never, ever, considers the fact that the rest of us have guns, lives, and rights too...nor that we'll prove as willing to defend our stuff as anybody else would. 

They sure don't think about the fact that a hell of a lot of them can't keep a cool head in a situation but a lot of other people can. There's a hell of a lot of veterans out there who ain't MAGA, or who are Black or Brown or LGBT or liberal or women, etc. 

Just sayin, this isn't gonna go how you fuckers think it is. But then nothing ever does, does it? And somehow, they never think about this beforehand.

I maintain that a lot of these fucking people are simply bored and debased and they think kicking over the societal apple-cart will be funny, somehow.

The cruelty is more important. The venting of rage and resentment even more so.

The most important thing to them is showing the world that giant middle finger, and it's very important to them that they be seen showing it.

I suppose that it's a lot more fun for these motherfuckers, especially people like Ben Shapiro who'll be the next ones up against the wall if they ever manage to kill off the rest of us...to cosplay as White Nazis and talk about other people being a "Social Contagion" than it is to face the facts that if you idiots get your wish, the vast majority of you are just as dead as the rest of us, and probably faster because you'll be in the reach of the killers a lot more easily than the rest of us will.

This motherfucker thinks he's paying $8 to Elon Musk for a revolution.

This motherfucker thinks free speech, revolution, world-changing vision is something you can pay for with money. As if the Freedom of an oppressed people, or the Tree of Liberty, could merely be watered with...$8?

A time where things like basic rights, or consent, or the common person having a say in their world was just a fanciful dream...and those who fought and died for such things mostly just died because Power was all there even was.

A time where, if you did what you wanted at all, you did it when no one was looking. There's a reason a lot of beliefs or stories or traditions were passed down covertly, or syncretized with existing religions of the Powerful, and why so much of what is actually true about our world still holds the aura of legend and mythos.

(And frankly, "Conservatives" are all about using even this, in total bad faith now that they no longer totally control societal narratives! Why else do you think conspiracy theories are so popular?)

A time where somebody like Elon Musk could say "I'm gonna open my fly, and you're gonna swallow what I give you to swallow" and that was that.

That's what people are saying they want when they say "Get rid of the government" or "Close the libraries" or "Shut down the public schools" because then, who or what is going to fill those gaps but the few individual people with the combination of desire to shape the narrative and the wealth to afford to do so?

And they're going to shape things for their benefit, not for yours.

Somehow "Conservatives" think that by supporting such arrangements they're going to come out ahead and you aren't...as opposed to everybody gets screwed over pretty much the same.

In fact, as long as somebody else gets screwed over worse, they'll rationalize whatever happens as somehow being to their benefit.

Seems like a hell of a way to live.

And more to the point it seems like exactly the opposite of a revolution, or a struggle for freedom. It seems a lot more like these Unfreedom Fighters are just trying to carve out some bullshit ass comfortable space for themselves and they don't actually care what happens beyond that.

And then they'll end up wondering how their daughter or son got sold to human traffickers when they weren't looking, or how their community's schools or their health care or social security just plain evaporated.

And that's exactly where this $8 Revolution crap leads.

More to the point, too many of these people actually know this...they just don't care or they resent the fuck out of it. But it's apparently too much work to change things.

In fact, some of these fucking people seem to view a society and various institutions full of uneducated ragamuffins to be the fucking goal.

And they don't actually care if it doesn't work...just so they got to feel somehow special for a few minutes or something.

Then they bounce from hit to hit to hit of this stuff, like addicts, and only later when they haze clears briefly do they even wonder why they've hardly got nothing at all.

I realize bullshit tautologies and simplistic ideals are these fucking people's thing...I used to be a conservative. I get this. 

But there comes a point where you have to have systems operated by people who know what they're doing who don't have an ideological or other axe to grind or some scam to run at the expense of all else...or you're the one who's going to get screwed.

If you want a better country you have to be a better citizen, and that costs a lot more than $8. It costs effort and knowledge and time...and work. Don't forget that part.

In case you're wondering why so many of these fucking people just don't want to do it, because it's easier to be Slaves to the Caesars or something...or to go on believing in End Times narratives and Left Behind novels that one knows to be a lie. Motherfuckers wanna believe.

Because believing makes it easier to be motherfuckers.

I saw this the other night.

I've spent the last few days watching people come out the woodwork to defend some pinch-faced old guy who shot an innocent black kid because it was too hard to just answer the door like a normal person.

Tell me something, "Conservatives."

When did it become some kind of a "Special Right" not to get shot?

When was being able to murder any random Black kid...or any stranger who shows up at one's door, come to think of it...ever a right?

Neither the Castle Doctrine nor the Second Amendment were ever fucking open licenses to commit murder.

Killing people has been wrong at least since God handed the tablets to Moses on the mountain, for fuck's sake, if you want to believe in nothing else, why is that so hard?!

Or, for that matter, when did it become a "right" for certain people...be they Black or LGBT or whatever...to have a right to exist without fear of their own local governments, or their own neighbors? 

I used to be a Republican and I thought things like that just got filed under "Living in a society." That people should not have to live in fear is something most of us just take for granted.

Yet some of us seem to want to go about constantly terrified, of our government, of our neighbors, of any thing that happens to go bump in the night...all too often, for the simple expedient of justifying their fearful childish desire, their lust for that instant of what they think to be ultimate power...of shooting something, of striking back at a world they've worked themselves into a tizzy of believing that it fears and hates them.

Like, bro, I'm here to tell you I was raised Christian and conservative and nobody ever...like, ever...abided by any laws saying unmarried couples couldn't have sex, live together or what have you. Nor has anyone to my knowledge, in my life, ever seriously tried to enforce anything of the sort...or even really cared.

Now I don't give a damn if the truth one uses for this is Darwin's theory of Evolution or that God created the Earth in six days and rested on the seventh. The snipped comments are from the comments under the post above; I looked, per her own Twitter bio this Diana Henry person supposedly has a job at a bank and was a J6 insurrectionist.

In other words she's a "Traditional Family" person about like I'm a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica.

These fucking people are just mad that their alleged "Truth" that they can't/won't/don't even want to live up to their own damn selves isn't considered the ONLY Truth and then forced on the rest of us by Something Something Gazpacho (Like, I swear at least some of these fucking people think Donald Trump could somehow magically make some kind of a deal to this effect, seriously) while they're allowed to basically every last one of them be the rulers of the world and do whatever the hell they damn well please.

It's really that simple, and it's just that goddamned childish. 

As if this country or the world could survive being "ruled" by 70 million of these spoiled brats and wannabe petty tyrants who cannot even rule over their own debased urges nor get their heads out of their own asses.

They've been so busy trying to immanentize some kind of shitty right-wing eschaton that they stopped paying attention and the outside world just kind of moved on, as it basically just does.

Modern "Conservatism" is a movement of people who never got over the level of maturity or the mentality of a 13-year-old boy or middle school Mean Girl, and it shows.

More to the point they think they're too good to have to persuade anybody of their point of view, and they think the Russians or the State or somebody else should just come along and force it.

And because they absolutely deserve it, their level of social capital has been in free fall for like a couple decades now.

They're finally starting to realize nobody cares what they think (or ever really did, in point of fact.)

And I'm going to warn you right now: They're getting pretty damned omnicidal about it. Their feeling (and yes, it is that) is that if they can't be in charge of everything, then everything must die.

And the funny part is that somebody like Ben Shapiro thinks the people like Diana Henry and Thomas Albert, the rest of the people driving the Republican Party off this cliff...would let him live in their magical little world with its seventy-million little golden emperors and do so without giving up everything that makes him himself.

Republicans have basically become like Ned Flanders from The Simpsons, but only if Ned converted to Radical Islam, joined the Taliban and shot up a bunch of innocent civilians with an AK-47.

And somehow they don't think the rest of us are noticing their "Kill 'em all and let Tailgunner Joe (and/or Old Joe Stalin) sort 'em out" ethic.

Too late, Republicans, we see you.

They're mad that in Ukraine and Georgia and Israel and other places around the world, people fight and march and protest and resist instead of simply submitting to slavery like good little "Conservatives" just so they get to be a better class of slave than some of the other slaves.

These fucking people don't seem to realize that getting to be a better slave than some other slave ain't the same as being free.

In the end, the only people what get to keep living in the Killing Fields on a permanent basis are ever and always the Killers.

Everybody else goes there to die, sooner or later. Maybe that's not a good ideal for a society?

Somebody did a thread on what an America run by the current GOP would look like.

So I decided to follow along, because while Brynn here isn't wrong, I think there's a bit more going on here.

It's not just that Red States are awash in guns and have lots of shootings, including shootings of innocent people who were just minding their own damn business in one way or another, doing normal things (like that kid that got shot by some old guy in Kansas City the other day.) It's not just that these motherfuckers want to have guns...which they seem to view not as tools or weapons but as some kind of totem of "Christian" masculinity and/or as toys depending on the day. 

It's that these "Conservative" "Christian" Republicans seem to revere causing unnecessary death for its own sake.

Because of the Republican Jihad against abortion...and now against birth control and proper prenatal care as well as knowledge, medicine and science in general...doctors are leaving some of these Red States (or at least moving to Blue and Purple cities therein) this in addition to rural hospital closures which leaves large areas lacking proper medical care at all.

Throw in these fucking people's rapid slide into perversion and lusting after young girls...while at the same time increasing persecution of LGBT people (Or at least of consensual, normal LGBT openness, people and relationships) as well as their Pogrom against knowledge of such matters also...and consider how that stacks up with their rapid push at the state level for loosening child labor laws (This despite the fact that the Federal government is asserting that it has control of such things and the States can go fuck themselves.)

You're damn right I think there's more than all that going on here.

I saw recently that in Iowa, the new laws say 16-year-olds can serve alcohol. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't know any parents who'd let their kid work in that kind of job. 

And I kind of gather that all this shit is targeted, anyway, at immigrants who might not know American labor laws (or who might not, themselves, care.)

I'm just waiting for the first national sexual harassment scandal involving a grown-ass man (probably some married Republican scumbag) and an underage hospitality worker. 

And I know it will happen.

I worked in food service for over 25 years, it will happen. 50/50 whether it involves a teenage boy or a teenage girl. In my time in that industry I witnessed...and reported...both in equal measure, including multiple incidents of normie gay dudes being sexually harassed by ostensibly straight, married men...more than one of whom was loudly conservative/reactionary and/or Christian.

Plus there was more than one case of a male coworker getting a female coworker pregnant and the resulting situation not working out. There's a certain class of dude-bro what likes the idea of punishing women who break up with them or who say "No" in the first place...much less get an abortion.

And there's a lot of those guys that work in places like casinos and kitchens, too. (And for whom impulse control, generally, isn't much of a thing. These kinds of guys aren't great when a dude turns them down, either.)

Maybe it's just me, but I think as much as anything these fucking people's Jihad against sexual knowledge (while it's also aimed at attacking interracial relationships and LGBT sexualities, yes) is in sum total and assault against the idea of consent.

They know a lot of people don't even need a damned library. They know anybody with a Smartphone can find the raw info on Wikipedia or assorted other places online.

They just don't want other people to be knowledgeable enough to say "No" or to get help with the consequences or results of their actions, or to be able to get help (that's not dependent on their whims, or on religion and involving a bunch of conditions) if a girl or young woman gets pregnant.

On the one hand it's about patriarchal power and reactionary moron-ism, I get that.

On the other hand, in a more general sense it's more specifically about creating some kind of Gonzo White-Trash Afghanistan, with some sort of Taliban-For-White-People...if not in charge period, certainly in power beyond the city limits of large cities, the foreign military bases and whatever safe zones have been established.

Except there's one small detail everybody appears to be missing.

This time around we ain't (really) talking about some kind of hyper-radicalized Fundamentalist Christianity, let alone Radical Islam or Russian Orthodox Jihadism or some sort of violent Traditionalist Catholicism...although certainly the behavior of these fucking people in this situation will be basically the same as all of the above.

These Fucking People are the Cult of Dis Pater, chthonic Roman God (and Christian demon, naturally) of Death and Wealth...and more importantly of the power to distribute each as they like.

Fuck Christianity, although they'll keep a front of that shit for as long as they have to, I suppose. Almost nobody on the Right really believes in it anymore. Much of American Christianity...particularly White Evangelicalism and anything to do with the Prosperity Gospel...is already hollowed out and given over to Idolatry and Mammon (including that of the Golden Idol of Donald Trump) already.

And if the Russians come at us, which I think likely no matter how things go in Ukraine or the rest of Europe...they'll gladly adopt a front of Fake-Ass Russian Orthodoxy at least among right-wing elites.

And they know there'll be resistance, even (perhaps even more so) if they manage to break up America and found their own stinking little Banana Republic(s) or some kind of neo-Soviet Satellite State.

Hell, they're fucking counting on it.

For the simple-ass reason that a lot of the dudes who are the main drivers of this horse shit are (as we saw just a couple days ago) goat-eager to shoot somebody for no reason.

I mean, for real, these assholes just want any scenario that'll give them no limits cruelty.

Give these motherfuckers their own dirty-ass little modern equivalent to a walled-off East Germany, especially with internal resistance (and that resistance being supported by a the EU, NATO, a rump-United States and the UN, perhaps even the Ukrainians returning the favor) along with external attackers, do it. I guarantee you that these ass clowns will basically think they're living out their most depraved fantasies of shooting it out with the armies of the Antichrist. "Giant purple priapism" does not even begin to cover it. 

And all their conspiracy theories, grievance, lies and rage suddenly become Holy Purpose (TM.)

All their fear and hate of anything "Other" will also turn inward, not only manifesting itself in ethnic, political, religious, sexual and various other forms of violent cleansing...the time will very quickly come where it becomes impossible to be "Conservative" or "Devout" enough in one's Cult-belief.

And you know what? They absolutely don't give a damn if their most visible opposition is some teenage Latina (herself perhaps a Pentecostal from Guatemala) who got tired of getting catcalled and grabbed and groped while waitressing at the bar and avoiding rape in whatever place she can get on the equivalent of a dollar an hour and shitty tips. 

Or some young gay dude working nights in a meat-packing plant, tired of avoiding abuse and rape and sexual harassment from the same people who performatively hate him and who subject everybody to low pay and shitty working conditions. 

People would get tired of this shit. Tired enough to find others like themselves and somebody (local malcontent, US loyalist or foreign agent) who'd teach them...and then pick up a rifle and try to do something about the unjust world These Fucking People want to create.

Hell, the people doing this shit are perfectly fine with themselves living under some constant state of war, with air battles between their own MiG's (again, let's be real about who'd support them) and NATO/US F-35's overhead and tank battles between M1 Abrams and whatever scrounged up junk T-55's and shit they get from the goddamn Russians and throwing their own raggedy-ass old-guy militia and whatever other troops they've got at The Enemy...

Who will rapidly acquire, in their minds, the Satanic qualities my ex-wife's church applied to anybody and anything tagged with those words.

Because cruelty's the point. They think they want to live in this kind of world, as much as anything because they're bored and have become debased. 

Because they're addicts and will require ever stronger hits of cruelty and fear and hate and rage to get the same high...and I watched some of these Fox News watchers close for over a decade. 

That is exactly what this is, a High, like drugs.

And they don't want to be a part of any civilization that doesn't give them that high, those hits of cruelty, and then hold them up as Gods and kiss their ass on a constant basis.

Seems like especially if you're actually conservative it'd just be simpler to keep the civilization we have where you won't get murdered for pulling in the wrong driveway or walking up to the wrong door.

The Truth is simple, Man makes it complicated because he does not want to obey.

Stuff like "Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" or "There is no Deity but God and Muhammad is His Messenger" or even "Hey bro, this is America and we don't do stuff like that here" don't make these motherfuckers feel special enough anymore.

These people are fast becoming Idolaters in the literal Biblical sense, only I'm here to tell you since I know a thing or two about this stuff I'm afraid of what they'll start worshipping next.

And we'd best get ahead of this shit and step up and stop it before it gets worse. We all have to do it, we can't just put this on Democratic politicians, or young people, or the military or the police. 

Most of our institutions have the same problems as the rest of the country.

A third of our society has no concept of right and wrong.
