Spider Hole (American Revelation IV, Part Four.)
We welcome change and openness; for we believe that freedom and security go together, that the advance of human liberty can only strengthen the cause of world peace. There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev...Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! ~Ronald Reagan
Trump finally got his wall, alright.
Except it's around the White House, not at the southern border. I'm not quite sure he planned it that way, but to me it sort of fits in a very ironic way. I have absolutely no sympathy for these assholes now that everything is going sideways. They have, as I said they would in 2015, done every fucking thing humanly possible to try to turn America into East Germany.
And, well, now that it's 1989 again and the bill's come due nobody should be surprised at who turns out to be a piece of shit and who doesn't. I'm kind of getting the vibe that the cops and the Trump administration expected something different than mass resistance by people of all colors after the horrific murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin.
I saw "Build That Wall" trending all day on Twitter. Apparently we've reached the "The dictator is afraid of being dragged from the palace and torn apart in the streets by an angry mob" phase of "MAGA." Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, I guess.
And since it's not turning out that way, there's mass resistance and judging from what's actually been seen getting deployed to Washington D.C. I'd have to guess that these motherfuckers are a lot shorter on StormTrumpers in the ranks than they thought they were gonna be, the fucking assholes have basically decided that they're going to get in what licks they can and have their fun before the hammer comes down and they face consequences and the party's over.
There seems to be a lack of support for Trump even in the military, from the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on down. I'd call that a good thing.
Especially considering what's actually been going on.
Here we have a cop groping a woman he has restrained. Let me tell you what would have happened, had I done such a thing as an Airman. Firstly, I'd likely have in those more immediately post-Tailhook days been prosecuted for whatever they could hang on me for doing it up to and including criminal sexual conduct. Second, I'd have been damned lucky to get out of it with a Big Chicken Dinner (AKA Bad Conduct Discharge) and a Dishonorable Discharge following incarceration would've been a hell of a lot more likely. Third, I'd still be trying to remove somebody's boot from my ass. This is sexual assault, pure and simple. And then on top of that she gets Tased and beaten for a normal human reaction to being sexually assaulted. As far as I'm concerned these motherfuckers should go to prison, and be put in general population. This is assault and battery and sexual assault, period. Against a woman who was only exercising her Constitutional rights.
When all this shit started almost five years ago, I got the vibe from a lot of white dudes that they thought Trump was going to get elected and then they would be allowed some kind of Rumspringa of shitty behavior for some amount of time, because they were supposedly-conservative white dudes. Of course this never materialized for most people, unless you worked for the feds and your chain of command was all Trump-supporting barbarians. Now that they see the gig is up, that the writing is on the wall...they're determined to "have their fun" before they go down.
And make no mistake, they are expecting exactly that. A lot of these people whack off to the idea of going out, guns blazing, against mostly-imagined foes.
Nobody wants to go the Saddam Hussein route and get pulled out of a spider hole, dirty, scruffy and unshaven after they lose everything, and then prosecuted and hanged.
It's the same reason a lot of people had this John Wayne image of Donald Trump in their heads, and then they found out that when there were peaceful protests, he didn't go out to talk to the protesters Nixon style, or be true to his own talk to go out there and confront them with bluster and bravado. No, he went and hid in the White House bunker, like a bitch/ It's kind of funny to me that this is what it took to break Trump's spell over so many people. It's kind of sad, really. Y'all were told right from the get-go what this guy was. Y'all obviously didn't listen. So here we are.
Instead we had people like Convicted Felon Dinesh D'Souza covering for this asshole and remind me, just what the fuck Dinesh ever did? Here he sits, insulting Mad Dog Mattis (as if insulting a guy known as Mad Dog is a good idea?) and remind me, when and where did Dinesh D'Stupid serve, again? It seems to me like all he's ever had is an easy life of saying dumb shit and writing books, making spectacularly bad movies, cheating on his wife and getting busted for illegal campaign donations. Whatever else Mad Dog may be, he served his country honorably and still gets to bear arms and vote, so yeah Dinesh, I think that means he wins.
I mean, for fuck's sake, Dinesh not only reveals he doesn't know shit about Marines...who are generally not afraid of lawyers or the media...but he doesn't know shit about dogs, either.
He's just trying to scratch up a last little bit of glory from idiots before he becomes [more] irrelevant.
And then of course there's the case of Mollie Hemingway, who seems to be low-key (not to mention low-rent) advocating for the division of the United States of America. Sort of puts the lie to those "TRUMP UNITY 2020" trailers I keep seeing pictures of here and there, doesn't it?
I am, in fact, at this point wondering just what the hell conservatives are good for in any respect, and I say that as somebody who used to be one. My conservative values place me squarely in the Biden camp at this point.
It seems to be the goal of the Republicans and Trump to break America and try to create a Banana Republic that they can rule over out of the chaos. I sort of saw it as inevitable that they would succeed. But the fact that there have been protests and riots in every state in the country and "Black Lives Matter" marches everywhere from small towns in Wyoming to Washington D.C. itself gives me hope that their plans may actually fail. Hell, the fact that they cannot apparently even control their own capital tells me we're probably in better shape than I thought we ever would be. Even if they do succeed, it looks like their domains will be considerably less expansive than they might have originally.
Something has changed, though. Something tells me that Donald Trump might just get pulled from a spider hole with a pistol in his hand like Saddam did before this is all over, and then go on trial and be held to account.
But even if he does, it's still going to be a long road back from being the nation whose leader said "Build the wall" to being the nation whose leader said "Tear Down This Wall!"
And we and the world are poorer for us having fallen so far.
Part Three.
Part Five.
